20. Unknown Secrets

 "Hello Chikkappa." I said to Abhi's father who groaned hearing my name from the door of his office. His office was not the lavish one, but gave the feeling of simple yet elegant. Abhi's father owned the company, 'Lives'. It is a pharmaceutical industry. They even provide online transportation of drugs if ordered. They own a lot of research labs where my Anna, mother and Attige used to work. "What do you want?" Chikkappa asked me with furrowed eyes. I don't know why?, but my family never allowed me to do my specialization in chemicals. Even I wanted to work with Anna, but he refused me saying that it is really difficult for my capability. 

 "I want to Know why was Anna working with Malhotra.?" He stiffened at my question and soon gave his blank expression saying he don't know. "If you don't give me answer, I will say to Chikki that you went to Goa instead of Delhi last year. I even saw you with a woman there." yes it was true. The meeting which was held in Delhi was cancelled so he thought of taking a break in Goa with his friend. But to his luck his friend's wife got to know about this and tagged her husband in the journey.

 "That was my friend's wife." He shouted. I knew I have got him. Recently my Shanno Chikki is nearing her menopause so she will be very cranky during her periods. Now luckily she is having her period which is really painful sometimes. If I tell this to her then definitely there will be a war in home. "Yeah, but a single word of Goa is enough to wake the beast in her. Now either you tell me or I will call her." I said dialling her number. Ok, I was dialling the dominos  as it is almost two weeks I ate one. Chikkappa sighed and gestured me to sit.

 "If I tell you this you need to promise me something. I want you to promise me you will be safe no matter what is the question." he said in a serious tone. "You must be safe for Shikha and yourself. You will not at all look at this company once you go out after me telling everything. You need to forget that there existed such type of company." he said and switched off the light of the room. The only light available was from the window.

 "You know my father was the founder of this company, but it was doing ok in those time. It really shined when your mother stepped in as the new scientist in one of our labs. She used the precious Indian knowledge and the chemicals to make new drugs which was really useful to cure some dangerous disease. Then your Anna joined where he took the company to another level. He was not a chemist, but a mechanical engineer." This was really shocking. Even I thought he was a chemist, but I was really small to think what all the things he did his major.

 "Yes, he did his mechanical engineering and worked in.... you know everything about Malhotras, right?" he asked. I was confused then it reminded of manufacturing the weapons for army. My eyes widened at the mention of this. "By seeing your expression I am quite sure you know about that. He worked there."

 He got up and went to the frame which was kept on the table near the door. The frame contained a photo of our family and his family. Even having such differences between Abhi and me, we used to smile our fullest during these photos. "Your Anna proposed a plan of where one of the chemical which was invented by your mother was used as a weapon. That weapon was really useful for Army. So Malhotras gave us many project secretly and even we worked it secretly. The last project of your Anna was really a benefitting one. It was a gun which had the deadly chemical. If one gets injured by the chemical he would die definitely after an hour, but the one who came in skin contact with the person, even he would die. But after one hour there would be no effect of that chemical on anyone."

 I was speechless with the information I got. "What happened?" I asked. He turned towards me "I don't know how the terrorists got to know that our company was preparing such deadly weapon for army, they started offering the huge prize to your Anna, mother and they even offered me as I am the owner of it. We still acted like we didn't know anything and government was keeping tabs on these terrorist organization one we complained about it. I still remember your Anna keeping the only model of gun in a special safe which he designed. It was his last day on the earth."

  I took a sharp breath to control my emotions. "Was this the reason my family is dead now?" his gloomy eyes told me everything, but I wanted to hear it from him. "Probably. We even asked the government and we came to know that there is someone from inside who was giving the information. So Malhotras stopped giving the projects to our company or any other company till we know who it is." I looked at the time and I had enough time to talk further.

  "Are you sure it was a terrorist organization?" I asked. He shook his head "It can be anything, the spy company of any country can also do such things. The government is trying it's best to find, but the person clears all his steps once he reached the destination." I nodded. "The gun which is kept in safe is there still. The safe your anna designed was of special type. It does not take any passwords or finger prints. I don't even know how it used to open." This sentence caught my attention. "The project is not handed over to Malhotras?" If that's the case then the danger still lurks.

  "yes, that is the thing we all are keeping you and Shikha out of this. I have promised your mother that no matter what, I will keep you safe even if it meant, you hating me, but promise me you will never enter this mess." he said coming near me. he was pleading me with eyes to agree with him. "Chikkappa, knowingly or unknowingly we all have landed ourselves in this mess. I will try to stay away from this, but will danger not come behind me once it gets to know I am the daughter or sister of the person that responsible for that weapon?" A thick silence enveloped around the room.

  "We will take care of that, but you need to try." was his last sentence before he switched on the light and went to his desk.
