Requested by @mehppppppp and one of my favorite pure ships! Angst prompt #8: "I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong, and don't even try lying to me."

EDIT: There were so many glaring errors that I had to fix so I just had to go back and change it

Logan had been sitting in his room all day, letting the chills of the air conditioning run over his arms. It was cold to say the least, and even the most clueless of traits would know why. The frosty atmosphere was reflective of Logan's current mood. And today was not a good day. It was one year ago today that Thomas had ended the longest relationship of his life. And it hurt. It hurt really badly.

Logan had little feelings on the subject, but he wouldn't deny he was not feeling his peak today. That man had been a wonderful experience, teaching him things he wouldn't thought he was capable of. The mind palace, as a whole, was down today. Logan pulled the sweater he had received for Christmas over his head and set out down the hallways. He could feel the drafts running over his bare feet from everyone's room, but he stopped in front of Patton's door. The room was almost subzero.

He knocked on the door and after a brief moment, Patton opened the door. Logan was immediately struck by his appearance. Patton's hair was sticking out and his eyes were red. The ends of his mouth were forced upwards and he was inwardly biting his lip. His hands were shaking and Logan could see the goosebumps running over his arms. He hadn't put his hoodie on and he didn't seem to be planning on doing so.

"Hi Logan," Patton's voice was uncharacteristically quiet. "Did you need something?"

"Patton, are you alright?" Logan took a step forward into the room and Patton closed the door behind them. Thomas's memories and treasures were put away neatly in stacks to the sides, as if he was unwilling to see them, and the bed had clearly not been slept in. "Your room is... freezing."

"I'm quite sure, Logan, no worries!" The fake cheer in his voice was obvious and it hurt Logan to hear it. "But thanks for checking. I'll see you later!" Patton walked to the door and opened it, clearing trying to usher Logan out. Logan followed, but instead closed the door, staring Patton directly in the eyes.

"I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong, and don't even try lying to me." Logan's voice was stern but quiet, trying to push him but not too far. He wasn't sure what limits he could pass. Surprise passed over Patton's face before he walked over to the other side of the room, rubbing his arms, desperate for warmth.

"I'm not sure what you mean, Logan." His voice sounded heavy and his breathing became more labored. "We're all feeling a little down today."

"Patton, we've talked about suppressing emotions. You don't have to hide it from me," Logan walked over and gently wrapped his hand around Patton's wrist. "I'm here to talk to you. Just tell me."

Patton whirled around, eyes wide and tears spilling over the edge. "I'm afraid, Logan! I'm terrified that I'm never going to feel like that for someone else!" He screwed up his face as he screamed. "I'm so scared that this was it. We messed it up and we can't take it back. I'm not over him and I'm never going to be! It'll never stop hurting!"

Patton grabbed the sides of Logan's sweater and buried his face into his shoulders, his throat raw. Logan instinctively wrapped his arms around him and threaded his fingers through his hair. "Breathe, Patton," Logan closed his eyes as he spoke over the sobs, trying to keep his own tears locked away. "Just breathe with me. I'm right here."

Patton pulled them down to the floor in a heap, clinging to each other as if their lives depended on it. Patton's breathing eased up and Logan could feel the risings and fallings in his chest start to even out. Logan opened his eyes and found that after wearing himself out, Patton had fallen asleep leaning onto him. Logan moved one arm and wrapped it around Patton's legs, lifting him up bridal style and placing him on the bed.

Logan tucked Patton in, wrapping him under a mountain of quilts and blankets. His head was cradled by numerous pillows. Logan smiled down on the peaceful image after wiping the tears from his face. He swiped Patton's hair from his face, removed his glasses and gently placed a kiss forehead.

Patton woke up the next morning, feeling refreshed. The room was still quite cold, as he found out after shucking the layers off. He remembered Logan had come in and he had broken down. He rubbed his eyes and his eyes fell on Logan immediately.

Logan was sitting in an over-sized armchair, an open book sitting in his lap. His hair was mussed, his glasses were askew and the smallest bit of drool was going down his chin. Patton smiled, this man was simply too cute. He sat up and walked over, removing the book and gently swiping the drool away. Logan slightly flinched at the touch and his eyes fluttered open. Patton found his expression to be, maybe, the most adorable sight he had seen ever.

"Patton," Logan sat up and yawned. "I see you're awake."

"And now you are too," Patton sat on the arm of the chair. "You didn't have to stay with me, you know."

"It was my pleasure, I wanted to make sure you were alright." Logan searched Patton's face. "Did you.. want to talk now? I'm sorry for pressuring you yesterday. I'm afraid neither of us was in any state to-"

"Logan, it's alright," Patton took Logan's hand and intertwined their fingers, quietly enjoying the smile that appeared on both faces. "I think I would like to talk."

"Whenever you're ready." Logan's voice had a soft quality to it.

"He was such a wonderful experience. And we don't have him anymore," Patton looked at the floor. "And it's been a year and it won't stop hurting. I want it to stop hurting."

"Patton, it doesn't matter when you feel you're 'over him'" Logan used his free hand to lift Patton's chin and redirect his gaze. "One day it'll feel right. And it'll end how it's supposed to. If it wasn't meant to be, you have to accept it, but you can take as long as you need for that. There's no rush for you."

Patton leaned in and closed his eyes, leaning his forehead against Logan with a sigh. Their noses brushed against each other. "What would I do without you?"

"We don't have to find out, luckily." And with that, they realized how much warmer the room had become.
