I will never encourage my daughter to be
Docile and meek
Pretty and weak
All simple and sweet.
Like the Lion, I want her
Unyielding in her stance
Ever open to chance
Shooting daggers with a glance.
Like a Captain of a ship
Bending , and unbroken, a willow thru storms
Keen knowledge of her ship, bow to its stern
Leading her crew amidst waves, respectful yet firm.
Remembering the tongue is mightier than the sword
Always reading and learning, before one is heard
Standing strong in her convictions and never to refrain
From speaking the thoughts weaker hearts may contain.
And although her feminine countenance may be
The first thing that others automatically see
to impartially define all her flaws.
She is there to remind that appearances lie and even a kitten has claws.
