Chapter 16, part 2

Katelyn's POV

"NICOLE, DID ANYONE SAY THEY'RE COMING!?"

"Only Aph's Mom, your Dad, Aph's grandma, and one of her cousins...some others are coming too, like some people she was close with in High School and University." Nicole looks up from her phone.

I nod and check off that box, then I head to the kitchen where Nana was.

"Nana, are you almost finished the sweets?!"

"I'm a-almost done the cake. I can't do all of this by myself in time, Katelyn." Nana says, sounding exhausted.

"You're right." I sigh. "Just finish up the cake and decorate it, then you can try to make cupcakes and I'll get my Dad to come early to make some Strawberry Puffs. As well as Sylvanna, she can make some Tamales."

Nana nods and I head out of the kitchen.

"Nicole, can you call up Sylvanna and my Dad to come early? We need their help with some of the food." I turn to Nicole.

She nods her head and starts to dial their number.

I nod and call Aaron.

Ring...

Ring...

Ring...

"H-hello?" He whispered.

"What are you and Aph doing!?"

"We ordered Pizza and played video games...she's kind of asleep right now."

"Okay, good! Make sure she stays asleep till Lucinda picks her up. We're kind of running late with the desserts on Nana's part, so she's gonna need about another hour to get that ready."

"Okay. Gotta go, she looks like she's about to wake up! Cya!" And he hung up.

I sigh and turn to Nicole.

"What did they say?"

"They're on their way. Don't worry Katelyn, everything will go fine." Nicole hugged me.

I smile and hug back.

"Um, Katelyn?" Travis says behind me.

I turn around.

"What?"

"Good news or bad news first...?" He laughed nervously.

"Agh...bad news first."

"So...the DJ kind of cancelled..." He fiddled with his fingers.

"WHAT!?" I exclaim.

"The good news is, I have some experience in DJ'ing! So does Dante! We could sub for him!" Travis smiled.

"Ugh...okay, but no playing any it's raining tacos or some shitty songs like that. Aaron made a playlist of her favourite songs, even some that meant a lot to her. So you guys gotta follow those songs, no other songs. Okay?" I cross my arms.

"We won't let you down Katelyn!" Travis assured.

I lean over to his cheek and plant a small kiss.

"I hope you don't." I smile.

Travis blushes and shuffled off.

I look down at my clipboard and sigh.

We have so much to do, but we'll work this out.

"Katelyn, where does this go?" Nana approached me with the Cupcakes.

"Just place em on the table over there. Make sure there's enough space for the cake!"
