Narrator's POV

"Hey Nana, aren't you hanging out with Zane this afternoon?" Katelyn asks Nana, sitting on the couch.

"Yeah, but I'm not so sure about it anymore...the atmosphere around us is just awkward, and we both feel uncomfortable because of what I asked."

"Oh yeah, you confessed, right? Lucinda told me."

Nana nods, sighing.

"He's probably going to tell me his answer, isn't he?"

"Well, why else would he call you over?" Katelyn questions.

"I dunno, My Little Horsies Marathon to relieve the tension?" Nana shrugs her arms.

"You're clueless, Nana. He's going to tell him how he feels and you're going to accept it no matter what, alright? I know you're scared, but you've gotta face reality."

"Says the girl always reading books all day, everyday. Fantasy books may I add." Nana exposes Katelyn.

"Shut up, that's not my point! We're talking about you, not me."

"You're right. I'm scared. And I'm sorry to break it to you Katelyn but it's none of your business if I am, so leave that alone and just go back to reading your book or whatever." Nana says, sounding irritated.

Aphmau then rushes through the door, speeds up the stairs and slams her door shut.

"I should go check on-" Nana cuts off.

"None of your business." Katelyn sighs, picking up her book.

Nana rolls her eyes and heads upstairs.

"Geez, I haven't seen her that mad since high school. Better leave it alone, I guess.." Katelyn wonders, glancing at Nana going up the staircase.

"Hey Aph? Can I come in?" Nana knocks on the door.

"It's open." She says from the other side, and Nana slides in.

"So, wassup?" Nana asks, sitting on her bed.

"Aaron. He's 'wassup' ." Aphmau sighs.

"You already know I wanna know, so, what's the tea??" Nana sounds intrigued, as always.

"Well," Aphmau starts, "We talked about the pros and cons of dating, we joked around a bit, and then he got all serious. That's when I got anxious. He asked if I wanted to be his girlfriend.."

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" Nana exclaimed.

"I did the cliché thing and well, ran." Aphmau rubs the back of her neck.

"You ran in the rain? What about Aaron!?" Nana frantically scurries over to the window, seeing Aaron just entering his house, soaking wet.

"Look what you did!" Nana points to Aaron, and Aphmau walks over.

Aaron seems to notice them in the window and waves with a smile, and Aphmau hides.

"How am I supposed to face him now??? We're legit neighbours and I don't feel like seeing him unless I have a real answer!" Aphmau slides down the wall, both hands covering her face.

"What was that about?" Aaron mouths to Nana.

Nana shrugs, "You know how she is." Nana mouths.

Aaron nods and heads into his house.

Nana then turns her attention away from the window, averting her gaze to Aphmau.

"Get some rest, think about it later. You'll at least clear your head so you can think properly after." Nana heads to the door.

"I guess you're right." Aphmau takes her hands off her face, and gets up.
