Narrator's POV

"Welcome to Starbucks, how may I take your order?"

"H-hello, uhm, I would like a Grande Hot Chocolate, and he will have the Caffe Americano. Grande as well, please." Aphmau orders.

"Your total is 6.40$, how would you like to pay?"

"Credit." Aphmau replies, taking out her wallet.

"Wait no, let me pay." Aaron says from behind her, taking out his card.

"No, no, no, please take mine!" Aphmau quickly brings out her card.

"No please, take mine!" Aaron argued.

"Young love is the sweetest." The cashier sighs.

"Aaron, we're holding up the line! Just let me pay!"

"You ordered, I should pay!"

"How does that make sense exactly?" Aphmau questions.

"Okay. How about you two both give me your cards. I'll flip them over and switch them around. Whichever one I pick is paying." The cashier suggests.

"Good solution." Aphmau compliments.

Aaron and Aphmau pass their cards to the cashier. The cashier flips the two cards over and switches them around, after a while, she picks up a card.

"Aph...moo?" The cashier struggles to pronounce.

"Aphmau. Happens every time.." She sighs, chuckling. "Anyway, I won! Haha, loser." Aphmau teases, hanging an "L" on top of his forehead.

"Thank you for choosing Starbucks, your drinks will be ready shortly." The cashier says, passing back their cards.

"Thank you!" Aphmau smiles, going to sit over at a table.

Aaron goes to sit with her, sighing in defeat.

"Haha, you suck." Aphmau laughs at him.

Aaron lightly punches her, gaining an "Ow!" as a response from Aphmau.

"Okay calm down. We came here to talk about something, let's talk about it." Aaron says.

"U-uhh well, o-okay!" Aphmau stutters.

The two sit in silence for a few moments, until Aaron breaks the moment of silence.

"Okay, I'll just say it if you aren't going to. Are we boyfriend and girlfriend?" Aaron asks.

"I- um, I honestly don't know...how about you?"

"I'm not quite sure either..." Aaron replies.

"But I do li-" Aaron gets cut off.

" A Grande Hot Chocolate and a Caffe Americano for Aaron and uh... A...puh..moo..?" The cashier struggles to say.

"Up to this point, I might as well change my name." Aphmau sighs, getting up to get their drinks. "Be right back Aaron." Aphmau walks away.

Aaron sighs.

"This is going to be harder than I thought, isn't it?" Aaron thought.

Aphmau comes back, passing Aaron his drink.

"How about we walk around the park and discuss this, okay?" Aphmau suggests.

Aaron nods, following behind her out of the Starbucks. They head towards the park, the one with the Irene memorial on Main Street to be exact.

We awkwardly sip our drinks as we stroll down the path, staying silent for quite a while.

"Ok, pros and cons of dating, go." Aaron blurts out.

"What? Oh uh, pro: no more frequent awkward tensions between us?"

"We don't have to also be pushed by others to date..." Aaron continues.

"I would be able to finally tell you my response to your letter..." Aphmau says, making Aaron face her.

"What?! You read it?" Aaron asks, surprised.

"I mean, I was bound to read it sooner or later. It's not like I threw it away...actually I did at some point but I got it back! I couldn't take it anymore one day and just read it, and honestly it's pretty passionate for a ten year old." Aphmau giggles.

Aaron blushes and just smiles warmly at her, taking in the beautiful sound of her laughter.

"Ok, now cons." Aphmau says, bringing Aaron back to reality.

"Oh yeah, um...Sylvanna?" Aaron shrugs.

"She's not a major threat, she just needs to get to know you more that's all."

"Well then I got nothing."

"Hm, I got one. Garroth would find out about it one way or another, and it would result in either one or both getting hurt. I don't want to be in a relationship where I'd have to worry about my safety wherever I go, I want to be in a relationship with you without risking our lives. But if I really did want you, I would take that risk." Aphmau admits, looking up to him.

"I'll take care of you Aphmau. Relationship or not, I always have. I'll be your safe place. Cause if you ever got hurt and I wasn't able to save you, I would never forgive myself. I care about you Aphmau, I always have. That bastard is not getting anywhere near you, and I'll make sure to be there at his last breath." Aaron growls, which startles Aphmau a bit.

"I...appreciate it. Thank you." Aphmau somewhat pats his head, standing on her tippy toes.

"Don't do it if you know you can't reach it." Aaron laughs.

"Con of dating: height difference. It's way too big!" Aphmau crosses her arms.

"Pro of dating: warmer hugs." Aaron argues.

"Con of dating: you could suffocate me in those hugs!"

They just keep playfully arguing for a while, until Aaron wins the argument.

"Who's the loser now, potato?" Aaron kneels down to her level.

"Shut up jerk face." Aphmau pouts, punching him lightly on the shoulder.

He stands up, and sighs.

"But in all seriousness, are we girlfriend and boyfriend?" Aaron questions.

"Well, I know I would like to be...but the response to that isn't so clear.."

"Aphmau. I am so damn sure I want to be with you. If it doesn't work out, we can leave it be or try again. But you never know what'll happen if you just leave it be without trying it. Aphmau, would you like to be my girlfriend?" Aaron says, looking Aphmau straight in the eyes.

"I..."

Aaron stands there, waiting for her response.

"I need time to think! I gotta go! I'm sorry!" Aphmau exclaims running away leaving Aaron in a panic.

She runs all the way back to her house, and to her luck, it starts to rain. She keeps running, breathing heavily, seeing as you can see the cold air from her mouth. She finally arrives to her house, frantically unlocking the door and slamming it open, taking off her winter attire and rushing upstairs as fast as you can say Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. (Yes that's a real word.)

She jumps onto her bed, yelling into her pillow. She soon turns around, facing the ceiling, wondering;

"Why did I do that?"

Thank you for reading today's chapter! If you saw my post on my profile Wattpad deleted half of the chapter, so I had to rewrite it from memory😰 Anywho, thanks for 3k views! It means a lot that you guys enjoy this series as much as I thought you would. And check out my new book, "Signing off, I love ya" . I work hard on the quality of that book more than this one, as it focuses on more serious times while this one's about how trying to figure out how love works. Again, thank you for reading!

Ciao❤️💜
