I looked around as she pulled me towards the house, my eyes scanning all the cars, trying to figure out who could possibly be here. My mind was racing at all the things that could have possibly happened, and the worst were the first thing to cloud my mind. I already felt the need to cry, but I wouldnt even know what I was crying about, and that wouldnt help the stress that it was clear that my mother was in. I kept counting to ten in my head, over and over, to help myself remain calm, or as calm as I could be with the pain of confusion.

"Mom, what happened? " I asked as she pulled me inside, not knowing if I could take the silence anymore, but I knew I wasnt going to be able to handle the wait any longer. "What's with all the cars?" I asked her, trying to get an answer from her, any answer from her. Whos all here? Why are the police here? Why is there an ambulance?

Millions of questions, not enough answers to fill them. I looked at her, but she didn't answer a single one of my questions. I had a million more in the back of my mind, yet to be said out loud, as I didnt really know where to begin. She just pulled me into the kitchen and made me sit me down at the table, telling me to wait before leaving the room. It was like I was five again and had gotten myself into trouble, adn was waiting to see what the punishment was going to be. I haven't done anything, and if I did, there wouldnt be all these cars. I haven't done a thing to get me in trouble, unless you ask Bella, then she would just make up an excuse.

"Stay here." My mother told me then walked off, leaving me in the room alone.

She was gone for a few minutes, but it felt longer than that, as I had no clue what I was waiting for, before walking back in with a good looking middle aged man. He had blond hair and bright gold eyes, something that felt strange to me. His skin was very pale, it's like he had never been out in the sun a day before in his whole life. It would make sense for him to be slightly pale, seeing that the sun would rarely shine, and when it did it never seemed to last.

Walking up to me, he unexpectedly shined a light right in my eyes, causing me to flench back, as any normal person would. I flinched back as he moved it in front of my face, like they do when you do to the eye doctor or the E.R. There was also a small part of me that wanted to smack the light out of his hand, but that would have been rude, just as it was uncalled for to have it in my face in the first place. I dont know why he had done it at all, as I hadnt been in any accident for it to be needed.

"Ow." I commented as he turned the light off as he took a small step back.

"Sorry, I should have given you a warning about that." He said then wrote on his clipboard. I couldnt help but lightly roll my eyes, since it would have made sense for him to warn me, and hes the one with a doctorate.

"What's going on here?" I asked, seeing if I could finally get some answers of what was going on here, or to what happened in general.

"There's been a series of animal attacks in this area, and one ended with a cousin of your getting killed." He spoke so calmly, but his calm tone didnt help the matter of me not being shocked.

I stared at him blankly before I realized who he was talking about, I only had one cousin. The two of us werent friends, we weren't even that close, but this is something that I would never wish upon my family. We had all already had to deal with so much death, no one wanted any more. My confusion soon turned into a blank look, for her cause of death didnt sit right with me. Ive lived here for so long, and never once had I heard of someone getting killed by an animal. There were a few stories of men shooting other men while hunting, all on accident, and thats why orange clothes had become easier to buy.

"Do they know what type of animal it was?" I turned my head to look to my mom then back at him.

"Some are saying it was a wolf as big as a bear, or even bigger." He had kept his calm tone, but my heart dropped right out of my chest. Thats the word thats going around town.

The first thought that popped in my mind was, Jacob. Just that thought alone made me really want to cry. I couldnt imagine any one of them doing something like this, I had known most of them my whole life, and it didnt seem possible. Jacob had changed, when he went through the transformation, but that couldnt mean that he changed changed.

"A wolf?" I asked him with a dry chuckle, trying to show that I didnt know what I knew.

"Yes, that's what they have been saying." He told me as he began to put things in his bag.

"I don't think it was a wolf." I said and he stopped and looked at me, staring at me like he knew something that I didnt know. There are no wolves in Washington, let alone ones as big as bears.

"I have to take your grandmother to your cousin's parents place. My mom came up, lightly placing her hand on my shoulder. Will you be okay?" She looked down at me and I lightly nodded my head, giving her a soft smile.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. I can call Jacob, he has to bring me my bag anyways, so I wont have to be alone."I softly smiled and she nodded head, leaning down she gave me a small kiss on top of my head before leaving the room, leaving it just me and the doctor.

"It seems like you know a lot about wolves." He spoke, gaining my attention away from the doorway and back at him. I gave off a small shrug of my shoulders and slightly leaned back in my seat.

"I really don't." I tell him before letting out a small sign. "I just really like them, they are my favorite animal. Ive done a few school reports about them for school here and there, but thats all the knowledge that I have."
