I woke up with a killer headache. The last thing I remember was looking at the broken glass on the floor. Then the red cloth over my face.

Then blacking out.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes, once I got the sleep out of my eyes. I began to look around the room. It was a nice looking room, but I had never seem it before.

I'm betting that Jacob never got any sleep. He had to wonder were I was at within minutes. He's probably going out of his mind.

I then got up, throwing my legs over the side of the bed. I heard movement down the hall, but I only stood there.

"Glad to see you're awake." I turned to see Bella Swan standing in the doorway. "You had a pretty close call back there."

"Where's Jacob?" I stepped forward.

"On land that we can't go on, and you're on land that he can't come on."

"Okay, then take me were I can get to him." She nodded her head.

"Of course, and congrats." I raised my eyebrow.

"On what?" She rolled her eyes. "Getting kidnapped?" I asked alittlebaking angry.

"No, not that. Dating Jake, he hasn't talked to me since you two started dating." I rolled my eyes at her, she's why he stopped talking to her.

It was more than dating. I wasn't just dating him. To people like her it was dating. To the wolves. To the shapshifter. It was skemthing different. It was something special. It was something big.

"It's not like love at first sight, really. It's more like. Gravity moves. Suddenly. It's not the earth holding you here anymore, she does. You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that's a protector, or a lover, or a friend."

"Well it wasn't me who caused him to stop talking to you." She narrowed her eyebrows at me. "Now will take me to my house.

"I can take you as far as I can go." I nodded my head and followed her out.

It was a quite ride, and I didn't care. I didn't want to talk to her. I didn't even want to look at her. When she stopped the car, I got out without a word.

It was about five miles from my house, there I could talk to my mom and my grandmother. Then I can call Jacob, or call Jacob first and then talk to my mom and grandma.

When I got home, my mom's car was in the driveway. A, I know they were both home. We don't allow my grandma to drive anymore, due to hitting to many mailboxes and almost Billy. I walked into the house to hear the TV on in the living room.

"Mom! I'm home!" I called out before I started to walk in the main living area.

Once I walked in I saw my grandmother's body with blood around her. My mother laid slumped over in the arm chair. I screamed as I saw them. I fell onto my knees and screamed again. Tears filled my eyes, pain took over my body. All my family was gone.

I was all alone.

I keep screaming closing my eyes hoping this was all a bad dream. That I would wake-up in Jacob's arms.

After what felt like hours I pushed myself off the floor and went to get the kitchen phone.

"911, what's your emergency?" I let out a small sob.

"Someone's killed my family." I whispered, I couldn't talk any louder.

************

I sat in a conference room of the police station. Bella's dad called Billy for me, him and Jacob being the next closes things I have to family. Billy came to the station, but still no sigh of Jacob.

"Come on Maddy, Jacob at the house waiting for you."

I nodded my head getting up and following him out. I didn't talk much on the way to the house. Billy dropped me off, he had to go out of town for a few days for tribe things.

They had to decide what to do with what's going on. They had to go to another tribe for help.

"J-Jake." I softly called out as I shut the door behind me. My voice was dry and horse. I was weak, what I saw keep replaying over and over in my head. I let a small whimper. "Jacob!" I cried out, I didn't mean to but I did.

I heard movement as I stood in the middle of the hallway. I couldn't move, I felt as if I was in my living room again. I felt arms wrapped around me, and instantly knew it was Jacob. I hid my face in his chest and lighly cried.

"It's okay Maddy, I'm hear for you. I'll protect you. I'll protect you better this time."

I held tightly into his shirt as my hands resting on his chest. I could fill his lips on my forehead as he lightly kissed the top of my head.

"I'm so sorry. This is all my fault." I heard him whisper, but I don't think it was meant for me to hear.
