The Kickback
Once I got home from Carter's I knew how I was gonna spend the rest of my Sunday, relaxing. It's been a week since I spent a whole day at my house and I was looking forward to it. Today was my rest day. No running. No gym. No Carter. Just me in this big house.
I plop down on the couch letting out a sigh letting myself relax for the first time since Friday. I wasn't use to the emotions I was feeling. I had never let a boy get to me like Carter has. He flipped the script on me. Just when I thought I was safe he made me feel like I was falling. Being around him was exciting and new but it was also scary and unpredictable.
The old me would've wanted to find my gravity again. I was always good by myself but somehow he made me feel better with him. I knew there was no turning back and this road was gonna be rocky. I felt it in my gut. All I wished was I had someone to talk to about it all.
That's how I ended up scratching my plan of relaxation. Here I am waiting at the park by my house for Lewis to show up. If anyone had advice on this it would be him. I sit at the old swing set feeling a soft breeze against my face.
"So whats with the emergency call?" He asks walking up to me with his hands in his hoodie smirk at me.
"I think I'm falling in love." I mumble quietly stopping myself from swinging. His eyes go wide as he sits on the swing next to me. "I don't know I've never felt like this." I stammer on feeling my heart race.
"You said you would never fall in love." He breathes out looking over at me.
"Yeah well I thought I kept my guard up pretty well." I look over at him shrugging.
"Well what do you wanna do about?" He asks as we both start swinging a little.
"What are you suppose to do? I feel completely lost. I can't even relax I'm freaked out." I say looking out at the trees in front of us.
"You gotta figure out how he feels about it."
"He said he likes me but he's not ready for anything. That's like being shot down isn't it?" I look over at him as we swing past each other.
"Kind of..." Lewis shrugs. "You know what I have a plan." He jumps off looking at me. "Come on." I jump off landing next to him. "We're gonna make him see what he's losing."
"You mean like make him jealous?" I raise an eyebrow. He nods as we start walking towards the parking lot. "Isn't that kind of pathetic though? I don't wanna force him to like me Lewis. That's just messing with his feelings."
"No if he didn't like you he wouldn't have those feelings. Believe me it won't take much." He says nodding towards his car for me to get in.
"I'm not kissing you or pretending to date you if that's what you're thinking." I state as we get into his car.
"No we're just gonna hang out more that's all." He shakes his head laughing at me. "Starting now. He's probably over at Connor's with the guys now. They're having a kick back."
"I look like shit." I say looking down at my shorts and a black tank top. I open the mirror seeing my hair in a messy bun.
"You look fine I promise." He sends me a small smile.
"Thanks for this Lewis." I give him a smile as I fix my bun a little looking more presentable.
After a few minutes we pull up to Connors. There it was Carter's gray Honda Civic parked in front of us. "I think we should have a safe word." I mumble as I look up at the house.
"Damn you're kinky." Lewis smiles winking at me. "I like it."
My face falls as my eyes go wide. "Perve!" I laugh playfully slapping his shoulder. "I meant like when we wanna leave."
