*warning the beginning of this chapter has a brief description of violence and other acts that may be triggering. It is also kinda long just a heads up.*

Y/n woke up with a gasp and suddenly sat up in bed. It took a moment for her to catch her breath and remember where she was. "What a nightmare." Y/n thought. She had just had a horrible nightmare in which she had relived her mother's murder. She looked next to her and was relieved she hadn't woken up Loki with her nightmare. She looked out at the balcony and saw the sun just barely creeping up on the horizon. She got up slowly so that she wouldn't disturb her husband. She quietly went out on the balcony and made sure to close the door behind her.

She took a deep breath enjoying the cold, crisp morning air. She enjoyed the view just as much, and she thought Asgard was the most beautiful place she'd ever seen. "Are you always up this early?" Y/n jumped at the sudden voice behind her and she turned and saw Loki standing in the doorway. "Not usually, I hope I didn't wake you." She replied with an apologetic tone to her voice. "You didn't." He walked over to her and leaned slightly on the balcony rail. They sat in silence for a moment as the sun rose.

"So why are you up so early this morning?" Loki asked. "Oh, I had a pretty bad nightmare is all." Y/n replied. "Do you need to talk about it?" She really did need to, but she didn't want to burden him with it. "Well... if you don't mind me talking about it." "If I did, I wouldn't have offered to listen." Y/n took a deep breath and let it out. "I was reliving my mother's death. When my father murdered her." Loki raised an eyebrow, clearly interested in the story. "My father somehow managed to kidnap my mother from Vanaheim, he forced himself on her and forced her to bear him a child. He intended for her to have a son, but instead he got me. He was furious, and intended to kill me. My mother knew a little bit of light magic though so she put a protection spell on me so that if he ever killed me, he would be cursed tenfold. As soon as I could more or less take care of myself, he tied my arms and legs together and made me watch as he stabbed my mother over and over and..." Y/n's voice broke and she had to support herself against the rail as she started crying uncontrollably.

Loki put a hand on her shoulder and she couldn't help herself, she flung her arms around him as she sobbed more. "He laughed. He actually laughed." She said through her tears. "Well if you like I could kill him." Loki said, Y/n found no hint of sarcasm in his voice, Loki was completely serious. It oddly made her feel a bit better and she chuckled. "Don't tempt me." She said with a sniff as she let go of him and dried her eyes.

"Why don't you go lie down? I'll wake you in a bit when it's time for breakfast." Y/n happily obliged. She pulled the blankets around her and slipped into a more pleasant sleep.

Y/n didn't know how she expected Loki to wake her up, but it wasn't like this, He had dumped a small amount of cold water on her face. She sat up, wiped her face, and looked at her husband. "You're an ass." She said groggily as she got up. "You're too kind." He responded with a smirk and a sarcastic bow. Y/n rolled her eyes trying to hide her grin. She grabbed a golden dress out of the armoire and changed in the washroom. Loki had changed into his usual armor when she came out. He offered his arm, she took it, and they started their way down the halls to find the dining hall.

"I'd like to apologize." Y/n said as they walked. Loki raised an eyebrow "What for?" "For having a complete breakdown on your chest. We still hardly know each other and it was inappropriate of me." Loki chuckled "Well judging by the severity of your breakdown you certainly needed it." A few moments of silence passed when Y/n asked, "May I ask you a question?" "You can ask, but I can't promise I'll answer." "Yesterday Odin whispered something to you, what was it that he said?" "Nosy, aren't you?'' Loki said with a smirk. Y/n blushed in response. 'He told me to try." "Try?" Y/n said with a confused look on her face. "To not be too much of an ass to you, seeing as your going to be stuck with me for quite some time." "You're quite wrong. It is you who is stuck with me."
