Y/n woke up facing Loki, who had his arms wrapped around her. She couldn't believe she was lucky enough to have been married to this man a whole two years today. As she moved to get up, she felt her husband's arms tighten around her and she knew that he was awake.
"Happy anniversary, love." She said, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
Loki's eyes slowly opened and he smiled at her. "Happy Anniversary." He replied.
"We have to get up you know." Y/n told him.
"Why?" Loki groaned like a child who'd just been told it was time to do his chores, which made her chuckle.
"Because we have to prepare for the celebration tonight, and make sure that the Avengers don't get into trouble." She answered.
"I suppose you're right." He said, letting go of his wife who promptly got up, dressed, and brushed her hair.
Y/n noticed Loki's eyes follow her as she got ready to start the day. "Loki, I said we need to get up. Last I checked, that meant you too." She told him.
Loki got up and used magic to dress himself. But he still didn't take his eyes off of Y/n.
"Why do you keep staring at me?" She asked confused and slightly irritated.
"Because, you are beautiful, and I love you." He answered.
This made Y/n blush. "I love you too." She replied and she kissed him quickly before they left for breakfast.
Breakfast went well, although rather silent as Odin had been very evident in his contempt for having mortals in Asgard. Everyone wished Y/n and Loki a happy Anniversary. Afterwards Y/n, Loki, Thor, and the Avengers were in the sort of sitting room that Thor would often spend time with Lady Sif and the Warriors Three.
Everyone was talking pleasantly with each other, except for Loki who was content to not say a word to anyone while he read a book, and it seemed that everyone else was content to pretend that he wasn't there. Y/n didn't care for it at all so she walked over to the chair Loki was sitting in and settled herself in his lap. He didn't mind this one bit and simply put his arms around her in a manner that allowed him to hold her close to him while he continued reading.
The Avengers seemed surprised by the small display of affection. Partially because they still weren't convinced that Loki was capable of affection. Thor however, had seen this same thing happen hundreds of times and still believed it to be the most adorable thing he'd ever seen.
Y/n continued to give her part in the conversation from where she was at and would occasionally attempt to bring Loki into the conversation, but his short or one-worded answers told her that he wanted no part in it. She didn't mind though, at least everyone had stopped pretending he wasn't in the room.
After a while Y/n excused herself and her husband as they had to help with celebration preparations. They went to the banquet hall and began supervising the setup of the decorations, seating arrangements were made to include the Avengers, they reviewed the meals to be made tonight, and various other tasks until Frigga came in and insisted that she would oversee everything and told them, "It's your anniversary. You two should be spending quality time with each other, not worrying about the celebration."
They didn't need to be told twice and they decided to stroll through the gardens for a while. They settled themselves under a tree and sat in silence for a moment, the silence was broken by Y/n suddenly laughing softly to herself.
"What are you laughing at darling?" Loki asked her.
"The first time we were in this garden together." She answered.
"You mean when you claimed I snuck up on you, even though you simply weren't paying attention to your surroundings?" He asked, remembering the event well.
"Yes, well I was just thinking, if I went back in time and told myself then how we'd end up, I'd have assumed I go insane in the future, for I had convinced myself that you could never love a frost giant. And I find that to be rather amusing." She answered.
"That is amusing, especially when you consider that I thought you would be unable to love me for the same reason." He replied.
"Well wouldn't this make a perfect picture? I should've brought a camera." Bruce said as he and the rest of the Avengers including Thor approached the couple.
Loki only sighed and rolled his eyes in response, where as Y/n smiled at her friend's remark.
"Sister, have you and Loki finished with the preparations already?" Thor asked.
"Mother insisted on taking over. She said Loki and I ought to spend some quality time together." Y/n answered giving Loki a quick kiss.
"I think I'm gonna be sick." Tony said, pretending that he was going to vomit.
"Oh, I beg your pardon I thought you were an adult Mister Stark." She replied, teasing Tony.
"If that's what you thought then you clearly don't know Tony." Steve remarked, at which everyone (with the exception of Loki who only smirked in amusement.) laughed.
They all sat and talked for a couple of hours until it was time for the celebration. Y/n and Loki were the last to enter the room, and were greeted by many cheers and congratulations. Y/n had never taken these cheers seriously as she knew that Asgardians cheered at every opportunity to drink heavily. They took their seats, and after everyone had finished eating, Odin made a toast to the happy couple and offered the floor to anyone else who wanted to give their regards.
Of course, Thor was the first to stand and make his sentiments known. "Loki, my brother, words truly could never express how happy I am to see you happy at last. To see you married to the woman you love, and I am overjoyed to see her loving you in return. Y/n I couldn't have asked for a better sister, pray, treat each other well."
Y/n felt a lump in her throat as she tried not to tear up.
Then the Avengers stood, and Y/n prayed they wouldn't say or do anything stupid. "Y/n, first, we'd like to thank you for inviting us here tonight, we all feel truly honored." Steve began.
"Though we still don't know what you see in this guy." Tony continued.
"We are glad he makes you happy." Natasha added.
"And if that ever changes you just let the big guy know." Bruce chimed in, making Y/n chuckle and making Loki's eyes widen slightly at the memory of being thrown around by the Hulk in New York.
A few others gave their regards, though no one else knew Y/n as intimately as Thor and the Avengers so she paid little attention. Odin signaled for the band to play and Loki led Y/n in the first dance of the evening. Y/n was grateful for the lessons she'd received from him, she was far more graceful at it now.
About a half hour later, a messenger ran into the room and whispered in Odin's ear. Odin's eyes widened and then he whispered back to the messenger. Y/n wondered what had happened, but she did not wonder long, as the messenger soon approached her.
"Lady Y/n, I have some most distressing news. News from Jotunheim." The messenger said.
Loki raised an eyebrow, and put his arm around his wife's shoulder as if he felt he needed to defend her from the very mention of the place.
Y/n felt her heart skip a beat and not in a good way. "What news?" She asked in a rather dark tone of voice.
"We just received word from Jotunheim that your father..." The messenger seemed almost scared to finish his sentence.
"My father is what?" Y/n snapped.
"He's... he's dead." The messenger answered.
