"NO!!!" Y/n screamed as she woke suddenly and sat straight up in her bed.
"Y/n what's wrong?" Loki asked sitting up and holding her close to him.
Y/n sobbed uncontrollably into Loki's chest. "Darling please, take some deep breaths, you're hyperventilating." Loki said, stroking her hair trying to calm her down.
"I-I c-couldn't... I tr-tried." Y/n tried to speak but she just couldn't get the words out in-between her sobs.
"Hush darling, it's alright. You're here with me, you're safe. Don't talk about it until you've calmed down." Loki said, rocking her back and forth in his embrace and kissing the top of her head.
Y/n took slow, deep breaths in and out. Slowly calming down and remembering where she was. "I'm so sorry I woke you darling; I just had a really vivid nightmare." She said. Not letting go of her husband.
"Don't apologize. It is my duty as your husband to comfort you when you have nightmares. Now what was this one about?" Loki asked.
"I was bound to a chair in a dark room. As my eyes adjusted, I realized I was on Jotunheim, I struggled against my restraints but the more I struggled the tighter they became. The air turned a frighteningly familiar cold, then I heard laughter, a dark, sinister, disgusting laugh I have heard only once in my entire lifetime. The same laugh I heard when my mother was murdered. My father then entered the room, dragging..." Y/n started tearing up as she recalled the horrors she had just been awakened from but tried to quickly regain her composure.
"He entered the room dragging you behind him, you were beaten nearly beyond recognition. There were scars where his mouth had been sewn shut but the thread had been removed. I kept fighting against my restraints but they kept getting tighter, I couldn't free myself. Then he said 'Did you really think you could be rid of me daughter? You'll never be rid of me, and since I can't kill you, I'll just have to make you suffer.' And then he slit your throat and I started screaming until I woke up." Y/n started crying again as soon as she finished telling Loki her vivid nightmare.
"It's alright love. Nothing is going to harm you, not while I'm around to protect you." Loki told her reassuringly.
Y/n chuckled softly and loosened her grip on her husband. "My love it is not myself that I worry for. It is for you, my darling, that I worry."
"Darling, you've nothing to worry about." Loki told her as he kissed the top of her head. "Now let's get you back to sleep."
They both lied back down and Loki held Y/n until they both slipped into peaceful slumber.
Y/n woke up the next morning to the smell of her favorite breakfast foods. As she opened her eyes and sat up, she saw Loki with a tray of food that he set on her lap.
"Good morning love." He said smiling.
"What's this for?" Y/n asked. Touched by the kind gesture.
"For being you." Loki said, making Y/n's cheeks turn pink.
"A year and a half of marriage and you're still making me blush." She said smiling.
"And I will continue trying to make you blush when we've been married a thousand years." Loki said, then he gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"I love you." Y/n said as Loki turned to leave.
"I love you more." Loki replied as he left the room.
Y/n smiled as she ate her breakfast in bed. She loved her husband, and she loved her family. She knew she was perfectly safe in Asgard but, her nightmare from last night really had her shaken. After she'd eaten, she put the tray on the desk and got dressed. Then she went to see Heimdall.
