CHAPTER FIVE.
WHISPERS OF AGONY
NEVER EVEN IN HER WILDEST dreams did Grace would volunteer to ran her ass off in the middle of the woods, chasing after a pig. Immediately, she begun to regret her impulsive decision to join Bellamy and his hunting party. It was a choice between chasing a pig or getting chased by a pig, though, and following the hunting party was the quickest way to get rid of him that she could think of at that moment.Shortly after yet another argument with Clarke Griffin, Bellamy decided to leave Murphy to handle the camp while he and a bunch of other guys went to get some food. It was when they were preparing to leave that a guy approached Grace. He was really tall and lanky, with grey eyes and slightly crooked nose, he looked sort of familiar but Grace couldn't seem to remember his name.
"Grace," he said a little too excitedly, "I've missed you so much, Grace!"
Grace was not amused. "Um, who are you?"
He looked as if he had been struck, the wide grin he had on his face slowly fell, and the longing and naked admiration on his eyes faded into something more guarded.
"What do you mean?" He nervously laughed. "You're kidding right? I've been dying to talk to you, but you are always surrounded by your friends so I thought I could wait until you're alone..."
When his words didn't seem to affect her, and her eyes still looked at him like she was bored and wanted nothing to do with him, he shook his head repeatedly, refused to believe that she indeed had forgotten him. "I'm Mike. Mike Bogdanovic, remember?"
Now she understood Bellamy's warning. Before she was involved with the two boys in that lake, none of the boys in camp was actually brave enough to approach her, as she was either glued to a bunch of other girls, or they were simply intimidated by the sight of her. That they thought they had no chance.
But clearly, by the insistent tone of his voice, this Mike dude would eventually approach her anyway, so sure that Grace would also be ecstatic over their reunion.
Well, she remembered him now. And she definitely wasn't dying to meet him again.
"Mike Bogdanovic? The earrings boy?"
Mike blinked his eyes a few times, his expression showed his utter disbelief. "The earrings boy? After everything I've done for you... you only remember me as the earrings boy?"
Grace sighed impatiently. "How else am I supposed to remember you?"
That seemed to set the bomb off.
"I was fucking arrested because of you!" He snarled. "I fucking stole from my own family, they found out and kicked me to live in the Skybox for three fucking years, all because you wanted that goddamn earrings!"
"Which is exactly why I called you the earrings boy," Grace replied sharply. "It was beautiful earrings. I lost it when they arrested me though, so I can't give it back to you if that's what you want."
