"I just don't understand why you feel the need to rebel against us, [Name]," your father, Hakozaki Kenichi, spoke in an infuriated tone.

"No, that's not wha-"

"Do not interrupt your father when he's speaking!" Hakozaki Sora, also known as your mother, snapped, narrowing her eyes at you.

You sent the two an apologetic look as you bowed your head, letting them continue.

"We've always put your safety above everything. We even sent you to U.A. to make sure you'd be able to use your Quirk in emergencies." Sora crossed her arms as the three sat at your dining table.

"Exactly! I went to U.A!" Receiving hard looks from both parents, you sigh in defeat. "I graduated top of my class...Aizawa said so himself... I don't understand why everyone else gets to become a hero, and I'm stuck here."

"Stop this whining, [Name]." Kenichi stated monotonously, "You know why you can't be like them. You're not ready. You still need more training."

"Your father is right. Stop wasting your time at these bookstores, coffee shops and on... emotions." She stopped and took a sip of tea. "You need more training. Only when we think you're ready, will you join us. I want you to continue your training with Shimura, do you understand?" She questioned sternly.

"Yes, mother."

"I have also asked him to keep an eye on you."

Over the past three years, having graduated from U.A. early, you'd been training with Shimura Tenko. Unaware of his criminal activity involvement, you considered him one of your closes friends — even though you knew he wouldn't say the same. The two of you had known each other from a young age, your families have worked together for generations. Obviously, you had many questions to do with the association of your family and others, but it was something you never voiced. You were told not to, simple as that.

"Ah yes, I almost forgot. [Name], Mr Seiya will come for his monthly visit soon. I will let you know the exact date soon."

"Thank you, father."

As you get up and place the dishes in the sink, you feel the hairs on your skin stand, a shiver crawling its way down your spine. You turn towards the city view, unable to see anything as the sun had set hours ago.

Staring out a little longer, it felt like someone was watching you. You could feel a pair of eyes on you somewhere out there... someone was watching your ever—

"Are you listening [Name]?" Your father's gruff voice called out to you.

"Sorry, what were you saying?" You gently rub the back of your neck and send him a closed eye smile, which he did not return.

"There's some business we need to attend to. We won't be staying tonight."

Your mood instantly dropped. It'd been a few months since you spoke to them last, let alone see them. But you knew better than to complain.

They have lives... jobs. I can't keep getting in the way of that.

"Very well. I hope all goes well with your business," you force yourself to say through clenched teeth, trying to hide your sadness.

As you three walk towards the elevator, Sora turns around, looking deeply into your eyes and caressing your face.

"Who are you, [Name]?"

"I am a Quirkless girl. I live by myself — an orphan some might call me. My name is [Name]."

"Good girl." Letting go of your face, she takes a step into the elevator, stepping to the side to let Kenichi in.

"I heard about an incident in the neighbourhood yesterday. Apparently, a woman was attacked. She was contacted by the police and brought in for questioning." He began, throwing a net for you to get caught in.

"That's very unfortunate." You say, furrowing your eyebrows, pretending to be shocked.

"Yes. She says a young girl —about your age —rescued her. Said she had a Quirk."

Both Kenichi and Sora watched your face intensely, waiting for the slightest reaction which would give you away.

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about this, would you [Name]?" Your mother asked sweetly, her voice dripping like honey.

"No. I didn't hear or see anything," You balanced your breathing, trying your harder to speak evenly.

"Good." They both nodded. "We'll keep in contact. Stay out of trouble."

As the elevator door closed, you closed your own door before letting out an exasperated sigh.

"Thank goodness," You lean against the door, sliding down as Kokoto nudges your glove-covered hands. "That was a close call, Koto."

Standing back up and cradling the black kitten, giving it small kisses, you go search for Chiba.

Walking past the sofa, you decide to put the roller blinds down since it was getting late. You search your bedroom, but it was to no avail. Walking down the hallway, you check the guest bedroom as well, seeing the bed made and ready for your parents.

Duty calls.

Duty always calls.

Duty always comes first.

Switching the light off and closing the door, you head back out to the living room again, still unaware of Chiba's location.

"Chiba baby~," you said in a singsong tone, "where are you?"

Kokoto had fallen asleep in your arms by now, and you watched as his cute little paws swung motionlessly at his sides as you walked. Now, you were in the kitchen again, about to open the pantry. Still, on the lookout for the pearly kitten, you feel a presence behind you.

"So daddy's little girl is a liar?" A husky voice speaks.

You knew that voice — but you didn't at the same time.

Slowly turning around, you see the guy from Mrs Kuoshiro's store. However, this time, he wasn't wearing a mask, and you could see his face clearly.

Carefully examining his face, you could see that the purple patches of skin were burnt and almost only being held to his  face by some silver surgical staples. He was taller than he seemed before, or perhaps you were just extremely short, but he definitely towered over you.

Speechless, you weren't sure what to say. This had never happened before. Other than your parents and Tenko, no one had ever been into your penthouse - no one even knew you were residing here.

"Sorry — I think you're in the wrong house..." You say slowly, and most definitely, awkwardly.
