"You're late, [Name]." An annoyed voice spoke as he childishly clicked his tongue, waiting for the [H/C] girl to close the sliding door.

"Sorry, Tenko-kun," you reply apologetically, "there was some... trouble at home."

This caught her greyish-blue haired friend's attention. "What trouble?"

"Oh, you know..." You try to brush his question off, scrambling to think of an answer. "Just Kokoto and Chiba and their shenanigans."

Judging from your body language and quick response, he could tell you were lying but didn't care enough to dwell on it. He knew you were capable of taking care of yourself, with or without your Quirk. You'd been living alone even before your UA days with only him to check up on you so he knew that if it were something serious you would share it with him.

"And I'm only two minutes late, relax." You say, playfully punching his arm.

"Let's begin then." He rolls his eyes, removing his jacket.

You do the same, removing your jumper and gloves, leaving you only in a training bra and grey sweatpants. Being winter meant that the abandoned warehouse was almost frozen and seeing your teeth chatter made him chuckle before attacking you.

The two of you trained whenever Shimura was free, which didn't come by often due to his job's lack of flexibility. He never spoke about his job to you — all you knew was that sometimes he'd be gone for a couple of hours, and on other occasions, a few weeks. However, your parent's trusted him a great deal, as did you due to your friendship having last over eleven years. Kenichi and Sora had entrusted your safety, wellbeing and training to him after you left UA. Having little friends throughout your childhood, Tenko was someone you were grateful for. He was always concerned with your wellbeing, even if he didn't physically show it.

Your training sessions were always evenly split into two sessions; combat and Quirk. Since your Quirk required your body to be constantly absorbing energy, it was necessary to ensure that your physical body had the strength to be used for long periods, hence his intense combat training. The two of you would train hours at a time, only taking breaks when your bodies gave out.

Over the years, you noted that Tenko had a powerful Quirk, Decay. It let him disintegrate whatever he wanted if all five of his fingers were touching it. Training with him enabled you to continually improve, even after graduating from UA. It made your actions decisive and sharp. Although at risk every time the two of you made contact, he was also able to see how dangerous your Quirk would be in the wrong hands.

It was now a little past noon, and the two of you were breathing heavily, both exhausted from training. You were nearing the end of your session when you lunged at him, knocking both of you onto the floor. Deciding on which one of you would be in the advantageous position was a game of chance — which favoured Tenko. He ended up straddling you with a hand around your neck, only four fingers touching it.

"I win again." His red irises mock you as a slow smirk appears on his face.

In that instance, he saw the determination in your [E/C] orbs. He noticed the way a few strands framed your face, wet from the sweat on your forehead. He saw the way your eyebrows were furrowed, probably wondering how you'd lost again. The way your luscious eyelashes surrounded your eyes, emphasising its roundness. Your lips were plump and rosy, blood pumping throughout them from the intense training. Suddenly, his smirk slipped from his pale face, and he almost had the urge to stroke your cheek. Almost.

Letting out a grunt, you push him off of you, causing him to land right next to you and snicker.

"I was so close though." You whine in frustration, catching your breath.

Rolling to his side and propping himself up on his elbow, his smirk returned.

"Yeah well, not close enough."

Your older friend continued talking but was drowned out by your mental debate. You thought about telling him about Dabi, the stranger who had popped up out of nowhere and claims to know you. It was strange, how he knew where you lived, how he knew who you were, how he knew of your existence as a whole. What would happen if you told Tenko? Would he report it to your parents? You didn't want to cause any trouble. And really, Dabi won't even be there anymore. So technically it wasn't even a concern.

Deciding against telling him, your train of thought was derailed by a flick on the forehead.

"Ow!" You cry, rubbing the spot. "What was that for?" You pout.

"Are you listening to what I'm saying?" He said, narrowing his eyes.

"Haha...no?" You sit up guiltily, crossing your legs and turning to him.

Tenko watched as you gave him the thumbs up and a cheeky grin before rolling his eyes, dismissing the warm feeling inside.

"I said, I'll be going away for a few days."

"Again?" You involuntarily frown. "You just got back."

"I have some business to take care of." Watching your shoulders slump in disappointment, he continued. "Don't be a sook, I'll be back for your birthday." Rolling his eyes, he watched as a smile crept onto your face.

You squeal, quickly wrapping your arms around his neck. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Tenko-kun!"

While holding up a calm exterior, he couldn't help the heat rushing to his cheeks. Looking away to hide his flushed face, he cast a shadow over his eyes as you embraced him.

After a few seconds, you let go with a giant grin that showed off your white pearlies. Letting out a sigh of relief, you go and pick up your jumper, throwing it back on before grabbing a water bottle that Tenko had brought along and taking a sip.

"All right. I better head out, I need to go grocery shopping." You say, letting your hair cascade onto your shoulders. "You coming over for dinner tonight?" You cast a quick glance at the boy who now had his jacket back on.

"No, I need to get back to the den. Perhaps next time." He says, ruffling your hair as he begins walking the other way. "I'll text you our next meeting point soon."

You wave him goodbye before you turn, walking home.
