Taking a few deep breaths, you stood still trying to come up with a plan that would let you get out of this sticky situation. You gently place Kokoto onto the kitchen island.
"W-who are you?" You question with a shaky voice, scrunching your eyebrows together in confusion. It was always more convenient to play the victim card; that way, you could observe what you were dealing with. "N-no-one knows of this place."
"Aw, come on, sweet cheeks." The intruder's voice echoed throughout the penthouse as the sides of his face lifted, revealing a grin. "I know what you're capable of."
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." Slightly narrowing your eyes, you kept up your facade while slipping off your glove behind your back.
"I saw you."
Your heart dropped. You knew what he was talking about. He knew you knew, and by the looks of it, he wasn't finished talking.
"I saw you kill that man last night. You saved that woman in the alleyway. And then you lied about it to your parents... Pro Heroes — why?"
"I'm sorry, you saw all of that and did nothing?!" You clenched your fists by your side. "Who even are you?! How did you even ge—"
Before you could finish, he roughly placed his hand on your mouth, preventing you from ranting.
"Shh..." He spoke lowly, looking down to something in his arms.
Turning your attention there, you find Chiba sleeping soundlessly in his arms.
Widening your eyes, you quickly scoop Chiba from his arms and turn your back to him.
"Chiba, baby! I've been looking for you everywhere." You walk towards your black kitten, picking them both up and placing them on the couch — completely forgetting about the stranger in the house.
"Let me get you two some food." You quickly exit, walking towards the pantry.
"Um... hello?" The guy awkwardly scratched his spiky black hair.
He had lost control of the situation. He intended to reunite with a childhood friend and invite her into the League of Villains — but it seemed as though things were not going to go his way.
"Oh, yes! You're still here... whoever you are." She quickly dismissed him, placing the plate of cat food in front of the two kittens.
"Who are you?" You ask with a pointed look, crossing your arms in front of you.
"Are you serious, [Name]?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yes... How do you know who I am?" You were ready to drain the stranger's energy at any time if the situation escalated.
Staring blankly into his turquoise orbs, he could tell you weren't lying. You had no idea who he was.
After a moment of silence, he finally spoke up.
"Dabi." His voice was no longer playful but stoic.
Confusion and hurt flashed so quickly in his eyes if you'd blinked at that moment you would've missed it.
"Alright well it was nice to meet you, Dabi — besides you stalking me and breaking into my apartment." You flash him a sarcastic grin, continuing, "I thi—"
"You really don't remember?" He questioned with a confused facial expression, cutting you off. "It's me."
He looked deeply into your eyes, searching for something. The longer the gaze lasted, the more uncomfortable you grew, by now, Chiba and Kokoto were watching the two of you. Something about the way his eyes looked at you made you speak the truth.
"I won't lie; you do look familiar. I feel like I've seen your eyes somewhere before, and your voice - I feel like I've always heard you talk right next to me. But in all honesty, I don't know you at all. I'm sorry..." You take a breath and continue, "I think you may have the wrong person, buddy. Good luck next time."
Making your way to the door, you opened it and pressed the button which opened the lift. Turning your head, you see Dabi standing at the couch in deep thought.
Huffing, you make your way over to him before grabbing his wrist and trying to drag him out.
"They've done something to you..." You hear him mumble under his breath.
You shoot him a raised eyebrow and continue to pull him towards the door. When he's almost there, it's like he snaps back to reality.
"[Name]." He calls you.
His tone is serious, and the atmosphere changes. The way your name rolled off his tongue sounded so natural it emanated a warmth inside of you. It bothered you, the way his voice had control on you, it made you want to turn and listen to him.
"Dabi, look. It was nice meeting you and all, but I need to get some sleep. I have things to do tomorrow." You say calmly, masking your curiosity.
Before turning your back to him again to push for the elevator, since it had closed up, you feel a pressure on your shoulder. Immediately, you took this as a threat. It was what you'd learnt from your training.
"Wel—" Before he could continue, his form dropped to the floor, weightless.
You had used your Quirk on him. It was a reflex... and impulsive. You had taken the energy which kept him up and drained that from his body. Now you were standing over a motionless body.
"Great." You cover your face with your hands, crying out in frustration. "Awesome!"
"What am I meant to do now?" You contemplate, pacing back and forth. "I wanted him to leave, and now he's stuck here."
What if Shimura saw him...he'd for sure tell mother and father.
Oh my goodness, I need to hide him.
Dragging Dabi's tall figure into her house, you were glad your parents had removed the security cameras in the penthouse. You weren't one with a lot of body strength, but your constant energy source made it easy to get the job done. You dragged his body into the guest bedroom before dropping his legs and huffing, trying to catch a breath.
For someone so lean, you sure are heavy.
You pushed his upper half onto the guest bed, softly positioning his head onto the pillows. Then, you removed his shoes, placing each leg individually under the blanket before getting a glass of water and placing it on the bedside table.
Dammit, I think I absorbed too much of his energy. He'll probably be out for another five hours...
Closing the door quietly, you continue to clean the penthouse before preparing yourself for bed as well.
