Chapter 5: Surprises

JACK'S POV:
I sit in my tree house doing homework. I here rocks being thrown at the wood side and heard my name being called.
I walk over to the window and look out. I see Alex, Emma, Tuck and Munch downstairs.
I open the second door and the come in. I sit back down on the beanbag chair and look at them.
"You are telling them the truth or I will," Alex said in a very serious tone. I look at him and knew automatically I can feel the anger.
"What truth?" I ask confused. I raise my eyebrows and look at him.
"Cut the Chase and tell the truth," Alex said more angry this time.
"Fine," I give in. "I'm tracking the town my mother talked about. It's so mysterious, especially how there's a red be that stops every time you cross the line. How Echo always land here and contacts us here," I explain the truth.
They all look at me with their arms crossed. They jump down from the treehouse and Alex looks at me.
"I'm not talking to you," I tell him in a serious tone.
"It's cute when you're serious," he comments with a smile. Ignore the smile, ignore the smile.
I pick up my notebook and textbook, going back to doing my homework. Alex sits across from me.
"You know I'm right," he reminds me. He isn't 'cause now I have to stress out more on who knows about this and way I can stay here.
"You really taking this 'not talking to me' thing seriously," he mumbles.
I ignore his remark and continue doing my homework. Alex takes my notebook and textbook away from me, putting them to the side. I reach for them, but he moves them farther.
"I need to do homework," I remind him. I stand up, but he pulls me down by my waist. "Let go of me, Alex," I struggle from his grip.
"Now I got you talking to me, you know you did the right thing," he repeats like he's some sitcom.
"No, I didn't. Cause now, I have to stress about them joining. This was only suppose to be me and no one else. I'm stressing over a lot of things already, and this is something I want to do alone," I explain to him, still trying to get out of his strength.
"Can't escape, I've been in the gym so I'm stronger than you now," he comments. "And you will need help, plus, they don't need to know the money thing. Just you and me. I promise," he tells me.
"Can you let me go now?" I ask him.
"Sure, but say 'you were right, Alex'" he replies.
I pecks his lips and get up. I pick up my books and did my homework again. I hate Geometry.
"How bout you go to the desert, just you and me, found out bout this town, then I give you your present since we've been dating for 6 months now," he suggests as he takes my books away again.
"Fine," I give in and smile.

~~~~~AT DESERT~~~~~

ALEX'S POV:

I pick up a rock and throw it over the line. No red beam. I'm confused. All the times we came there was a red beam.
I walk to the line and the red beam fires. I grab spray paint and sprayed a line to mark the red beam and us.
"What up with the line?" Rebel/Jack asks me.
"To separate us from the line," I reply. She gives me a nod.
"Now time for your present," I tell her with a smile. I lead her to the cliff I fell off a year or two ago.
"Remember when o saved your ass from falling off this cliff," she reminds me.
"Yeah and how there was millions of Echo's down there," I remind her.
"And our first kiss was here," she says with a smile.
I smile back and kiss her lips. I take out a red box and hand it to her.
"Here's your present," I tell her.
She opens the box and smiles at the locket.
"First photo of us," I tell as she opens it. She smiles and kisses my lips. I kiss her back and I smile as I pull away.
"I love it," she tells me. I put the necklace on her and she smiles.
BEEP BEEP!
Jack and I turn around and see Echo.
"Echo!" Jack and I yell. He smiles and hugs us.
"What are you doing here?" Jack asks.
Echo points to the line. I smile at the thought.
"Glad to have you back," I comment.
"We have to tell the others," Jack exclaims.
I text the others quickly and look back at Echo.
