“I am Madeline-Grace’s real dad.”
Louis, Zayn, Perrie, and Harry just stared at him and Niall smiled.
“You think I don’t know that, babe? I’ve seen the birth certificate. It’s in your desk drawer.” Niall looked at Liam.
“Wait, you did? Why didn’t you tell me you knew? Then I could’ve stopped worrying so much.”
“I didn’t think you wanted anyone to know, so I didn’t say anything. I’m sorry babe.”
“’S Ok. She was fine in the car and I wished I could’ve just told her then. I’ll tell her tomorrow I guess.” Liam looked so close to tears, Niall was surprised he wasn’t crying already.
“Hey, babe, it’s Ok. She will love that you are her real dad.”
“But did you hear her talking about why he, I, left?” he asked sadly.
“What did she say?” Louis whispered to Niall.
“She thought she wasn’t pretty enough or something. That she wasn’t good enough for him,” he whispered back. Louis looked sadly at Liam, who was cuddled up in Niall’s arms; crying softly.
“Babe, you couldn’t help leaving. You were young. You had a band and you didn’t mean to get her pregnant.” Niall rubbed his back.
“She was only 19. I feel so bad, but I can’t believe I left her.” Liam shook with sobs now and Niall was trying everything to calm him down.
After ten minutes of no talking, footsteps were heard on the steps. Liam was still crying and he couldn’t hear them.
“Daddy, Dad?” Madeline-Grace said softly.
“Huh baby?” Niall asked. Liam looked up when she called them Dad and Daddy.
“Why is Dad crying?”
“He is just a little upset is all. Why are you awake?” Niall put Liam on the couch and walked over to the girl.
“I couldn’t sleep. Could you or Dad come up?”
“I’ll come up. Louis, take care of Liam.”
“Ok. Night MG sweetheart,” Louis said.
“Night Lou.” She followed Niall up the stairs.
“So baby. What’s bothering you?” Niall sat on the edge of her bed and she got into bed.
“I dunno. First time I’ve been in a house for 8 years… I’ve only just met you too. I also miss my mom and dad more than ever now and I don’t know why.” She looked up at Niall with tears.
