Michael stopped at the class room door and pulled me close, giving me a long kiss. "I'll see you after class," he said breathlessly as he began to walk away.
I smiled and turned to walk into my class.
"Happy birthday, Audrey." A group of girls told me.
I sat next to Paul, after struggling to get past the small group of girls trying to talk to him. He smiled at me, winking. No matter what he did, he was always very confident.
The second bell rang and everyone else rushed to their seats.
The teacher called rolled, explained today's assignment, and wished me happy birthday.
With the teacher's permission, I left class to use the restroom.
I felt my necklace, given to me by Michael, had broken, once again. I sighed and bent down to pick it up.
"Would you like help fixing it?" I heard a voice standing above me.
I jumped, startled from the boy's random voice. I stood up and blushed as I looked into George's eyes. I giggled, trying to shake my feelings. "Uh... I think I'll be okay. If I can't fix it, I can't wear it..." I shrugged, smiling.
George nodded. "Sorry to scare you, I just thought you would've needed help fixing it."
"What are you doing out of class?" I asked him.
He held up a library book and a piece of paper which I assumed to be a library pass.
"Ah. Well... I'll let you get back to business," I smiled at him. I began leaving George to go to the rest room.
"You look very beautiful!" George called after me.
I held in my small gasp, even if he couldn't hear it. "Uh, thanks! You too!"
George shook his head and laughed, continuing on his way to the library.
"You know, darling, he has quite a crush on you."
I looked over my shoulder to see John throwing some papers away outside his classroom's door.
I scoffed. "No, he could do so much better than me."
"I've tried tellin' him that," John laughed. "Just be careful with him." He began to take the step back towards his classroom.
"What do you mean? I'm with Michael."
John nodded but didn't answer me. Instead, he walked back into his class, leaving me in the hallway, alone, in shock.
After a few seconds I snapped out of it and remembered what I was doing out of class. For the rest of the time left in my first class of the day, all I could think about was George's compliment towards me.
Paul walked me out of class to Michael already patiently waiting outside. "He's a dick," Paul whispered before leaving me alone with Michael. None of the lads like Michael, and I've never really known why.
'Because George likes you,' my brain said. I shook off the thought as Michael began holding my hand as we walked to our next class.
