Leo smiled a warming smile that seemed to call to me. Stood there speechless as if lost in a trace as I studied him. Although it had only been two days, it had felt like forever since I had seen him. My heart pounded at a fast pace and I couldn't seem to get my body to stop aching for his touch. I had a quick glimpse from the day we were in the water and wondered how things would have turned out if I had let things go forward. I wondered how it had went if I had just rode the waves. "I've missed you," he uttered in a husky voice pulling me from my thoughts.

I wanted to kiss him badly on the lips, but instead I fought the urges. "What are you doing here? The doctor's appointment isn't for another two hours and we said we'd meet up at the hospital anyway," I managed to get out. I had managed to sneak a text to him last night confirming he was still coming to the doctor's appointment and to tell him we would meet up at the hospital. I also had sent him a reminder of the time so he wouldn't be late. After talking to Amora yesterday, I became more determined to ensure he would be in our child's life whether he liked it or not. Whether I liked it or not. I would just have to fight my urges for him.

He edged closer to me, but I stood my ground despite how much he was making me ache. "Change of plans," he stated. "I wanted to take you to the doctor's appointment. We need to talk about us." I opened my mouth to debate the issue, but he quickly cut me off. "And I'm not taking no for an answer."

I bit my tongue to keep from arguing back. I had learned it was hard to argue with him and that there was no point. He always found away around my best debates. "Fine, but first I have to make Amora some breakfast and drop her off at the center." I tried to hide my disappointment as I spun on my heal , but the sadness in my voice couldn't be covered.

"Amora's here?" he questioned as I heard his footsteps behind me. I hoped he wasn't staring at my ass seeing as I was wearing some shorts. I had only put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for my pajamas last night and I was starting to regret it right about now.

I nodded. "Yes. I'm surprised Tai didn't tell you. Her mom didn't show again so I offered to take her out for the weekend since she was the only child not going home for a family visitation," I explained going back to making pancakes.

Leo smiled once again, but this time it was softer. "I'm sure she really enjoyed that."

I returned the expression. "I hope so because I really enjoyed it too." I stopped making breakfast and turned to face Leo. "How would I go about making this Amora's home until her mother gets her act together?" I asked crossing my arms. It was only then I realized I wasn't wearing a bra underneath the t-shirt. I hoped my face didn't burn red from the embarrassment I felt.

Leo's soft smile only grew bigger as he heard the words that came out of my mouth. "I guess I could represent you and get you temporary guardianship. It's only thirty days, but by then you should have your foster parent certification. It'll take at most a week or two to get approval."

"Thank you."

Leo came closer with his lips only inches apart. "You're welcome," he whispered against my lips.

My heart raced as my mind argued back and forth why this was indeed a bad idea. "Good morning." I pulled away quickly before we kissed and turned to face a yawning Amora who stood in the doorway. I leaned against the counter grinning. She had stopped a close call. This was the second close call for me. I really needed to keep my distance.

"Good morning, sweetie," I responded.

"Were you two about to kiss?" she asked looking between the two of us.

I shook my head quickly. "No. We were just having a discussion about you. I promised I'd try to make it so you could stay here. So, Mr. Leo is going to help me keep that promise to you. But, it'll take about a week or two."

"But-" Amora began to protest.

"So," I rushed to add before she had a chance to argue. "We need you to play your part by being a big girl and being patient while we do what we can as fast as we can to make this your home. Can you do that for us?"

Amora sighed. "Okay."

"Now go get dressed while I make you two breakfast."

"So are we going to talk about us?" Leo questioned as we drove away from the center. Amora had been reluctant to go back into the center for fear I wouldn't come back for her and that I would leave her like everyone else. Her fear was obvious by the terror in her eyes and the tears the rolled down her cheek. So, I had given her my necklace to show her a leap of faith. I explained to her she could borrow it until I came back. That it was a locket from my grandmother. I walked her in before I got back in the vehicle with Leo to head to my doctor's appointment.

"There's nothing to talk about," I stated staring out of the window. Despite our last encounter, I still was denying the fact we had something. It was just hard to figure out if it was just lust or if this was some connection brewing between us. I was the wrong person to ask the question.

I heard Leo sigh. "Look, I don't know why you can't give us a chance," he argued. "I know you've been hurt in the past, Louise, but I'm nothing like them."

I caught my bottom lip between my teeth. I felt like there was something difference about him. This I agreed with, but that didn't stop my fear. I didn't know what it would take for me to know if he truly was different, but I knew I would know it when I finally saw it. "I know. I just need ti-" I inhaled heavily as I sat in the passenger seat. "Fuck, it hurts," I cursed. I felt that stabbing situation in my abdomen. It was a sharp and aching pain. I was near to tears.

"Are you okay?" I caught Leo glancing from between the road and me quickly trying to check me out.

"I don't know," I responded truthfully. "Something's wrong." I was in a panic now.

Leo put his foot to the pedal. I could read the worry on his face as his eyes stayed glued on the street as he sped down the street. "Hang in there, Louise. We're almost to the hospital," he informed me.

We got there and no time and I quickly got out the car hoping it was just a false alarm. "You're bleeding," the valet said in a horror town. My vision was now blurry from how much tears build up in my eyes. I didn't want to acknowledge what he had said, but I did so against my better judgement.

I slowly looked down as I heard Leo shutting his door. There going down my leg was a blood. I looked back at the passenger seat to see it was covered in blood. Fear, pain, and emotional stress was getting to me quickly. "Louise, are you okay?" I heard Leo ask me. He sounded like he was far away and his voice sound drowned. I looked at him but didn't say a word. I was indeed speechless. "Go get a doctor," Leo hissed. Just as he reached to pick me up in his arms, I fainted.
