Rasputin. A man who, if you stare into his eyes, seems to stare into your soul through the screen. A man who died over 100 years ago, but can still send chills down your spine with his intense gaze. He may have been an innocent man. Just a normal holy man. But his profound effect on people cannot be ignored. He unsettles people. He digs in deep, under your skin, to your weaknesses. And that, dear readers, is exactly what he did to the Romanov family.

Personality traits: a wanderer, licentious, mysterious, prophetic,
During the revolution: Initially, Rasputin arrived in St Petersburg in 1903 after traveling to Greece and the Middle East as part of his wanderings. Within two years of arriving in the city, this "mad monk" was granted an audience with the royal family, during which time he demonstrated a remarkable ability to heal Alexei's hemophilia, temporarily. Rasputin's astounding abilities gained him an enviable position at the Tsarina's right hand - she quickly trusted him with everything, and he equally as fast began to take advantage of his newfound position of power.
Rasputin was licentious. Imagine the creepy drunk hitting on you at the bar. Now imagine that same drunk can seemingly reach into your soul with his eyes. You want to look away, but you can't. You're terrified, but you can't move. You are completely under his spell. And he knows it.
This was the influence Rasputin reportedly had over women.
The men and women at court were growing increasingly distrusting of Rasputin. Some tried to suck up to him and gain favour, with the hope that he could push through their ideas and goals at court. Others disliked the power he wielded. One governess of the royal family was particularly distraught when, one night, Rasputin was granted access to the young princesses in their night gowns. When she voiced her concerns, the governess was sent away.
Interestingly, Rasputin did have a knack for predicting the future as well as healing people with ease. Before the revolution he prophesied:
The Russian mother and to the Children that they have. If I get killed simple robbers, my brothers the Russian peasants, you, Tsar of Russian, fear not, stay on the throne and rule, and do not fear for their children, for they will reign for another hundred years and beyond that. If I will be killed by noblemen on their hands there will be my blood, and twenty-five years, they will not be able to wash it out. They will have to leave Russia. Then brothers will kill brothers and will kill each other. And twenty-five years there will be nobles in the state. The king of the Russian land, if you hate the ringing of the bell announcing that killed Gregory, you should know it. If your relatives lead to my death anybody from your family — no children or relatives will remain alive after two years. They all will be killed by the Russian people... pray, Pray and be strong, remember your Holy family.
Again I saved it and I don't know how many times I save... but I'll save it for predators. Every time I hug the king and mother and the girls, and the Prince, I shudder with terror, if I embrace the dead... And then I pray for these people. ..I pray for all of the Romanov family, because to them falls the shadow of a long Eclipse.
