"Get up."
"Mom I can't do this anymore," I said as I laid on the floor breathless. All my body hurt especially my back since I always fell on it. My head hurt as hell and I felt sweat on every part of my body.
"Yes, you can. Now get up," she said firmly taking a step back positioning herself into a defense position ready for me to attack her. I slowly stood up, my ponytail falling and a bruise on my leg from two days before.
"Why do we do this? I feel too tired," I said but then she took a step forward trying to punch me on the stomach, but I moved backwards as I anticipated the movement. She repeated but this time I took a step forward, I grabbed her by the waist with full force but she hit me with her leg making me lose air.
My mom didn't taught me only self defense, but also how to fight back. She didn't told me why I needed to learn this so much, even if I asked every time.
"We will not stop until you do it right," she said as I fought for air. I've tried a million times to do it right, I'm trying to. I'm done with this.
I leveled her again already mad. I didn't wanted to do this, but she made me. I positioned myself back into a defense position to wait for her to attack me this time. She raised an eyebrow surprised by my reaction.
"If that's what you want. Then I'll start," she said. She ran over me and her hand moved to hit my face but I got down before she could do it. She tried to hit me two more times but I moved. I took a step forward and tried to hit her in the stomach but she turned me around and his arms grabbed my neck suffocating me.
"They will do their worst," she said as she hold me, my face turning red. With my elbow I hit her stomach hardly and she yelled of pain but she suddenly took me into the floor grabbing both of my wrist tightly on both sides while I breathed quickly.
I hit her down there and she yelled in pain, I took advantage of it and turned her around. Now I was above her and I raised a hand to hit her but I stopped as she smiled.
"Good girl," she said.
"Ava..., wake up."
"Ava."
I opened my eyes and saw Matteo at my side looking at me worried. His hand touched my cheek to wipe my tears. Was I crying while I slept?
"What were you dreaming?," he deeply said as he pulled my hair backwards, so he could see my face clearly. I relaxed with his touch. I took a deep breath before I talked.
"My mom.....It wasn't a dream, it was more like a flashback," I said turning around staring at the ceiling.
"It seemed very real actually. I felt I was really with her."
It really seemed like it. Her words, I could hear her clearly while I slept.
Matteo watched me quietly as I touched my necklace. Maybe she trained me because of those bad man who pursuit me, maybe that was her reason. She knew I needed to defend myself from them, but why? Had she fought with them? Did she knew that if someday they find me I'll need to fight back? Why?
What did she went through?
I looked at Matteo and I suddenly stood up.
"Let's go to a gym. I want you to show me fight lessons," I finally said firmly. I knew Matteo fought with people sometimes but he hadn't killed someone, I think. He hadn't told me anything but I didn't asked him either.
