It was morning. Shinobu woke up to the gentle sunlight piercing through her curtains. Gently rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands, she arched her back to stretch and yawned. Getting out of her futon, she scratched her head and cracked her neck. Shinobu swept her long-to-the-waist hair back and brushed some of the extra hair strands back. She needed to get ready. Today was the day. Today was the day that she will once again step in the horrible forest that took her everything. Today was the first time in four years since she left, that Shinobu will once again face that terrifying place. She wouldn't be scared. She had gone there and came back alive, and now she was stronger, so she will fight. It needed to be perfect today. She waited four years for this.

After cleaning up her futon, Shinobu went to the bathroom. Her long, beautiful hair with long purple tips was brushed and was let down, surprisingly unusual than her normal style. After leaving, or rather running away, Shinobu can no longer wear her prideful possession, the butterfly hairpin. Her sister would be disappointed in her if she knew Shinobu was in this state. Kanae would never accept Shinobu running away. That's why Shinobu couldn't wear it, the beautiful gradient hairpin makes her feel too guilty and she was no longer in the Demon Slayer corps, or even her own estate, her home, the Butterfly Estate. Sighing, she got ready and tucked her hair behind her ears. It was hard living with long hair, but Shinobu couldn't bring herself to cut it. She was a new person, or at least she will be until she find Tomioka again. That will make her feel alive again. That will bring her back. Not that she will cut her hair anyway, it was a new change and Shinobu remembered once that Tomioka told her how he was in love with her hair, so secretly, she grew it out. Not that he will see it, but he will. He will after she brings him back.

Opening her closet after she got out of the bathroom and into her room, which shine in an angelic way by the early morning sunlight, Shinobu glanced at her neatly folded old Demon Slayer uniform. They brought back memories. Memories of her friends, her comrades, her master. Memories of Tomioka Giyuu. She shook her head violently, causing her long hair to weave around, then she stacked a big pile of clothing on top of her old uniform. She couldn't look at it without feeling sad. It had been four years since she touched the thing again, and the uniform just seemed forbidden to touch for her. She couldn't touch it even if she wanted to, like it would burn her hand even if just for a mere second. That was how much she despite it. The uniform that held so much love for her also somehow held bad memories. So simply, she just put on something else. A beautiful purple gradient kimono with her sister's haori over it. At least she could wear that with pride. The haori meant alot to her, but the kimono had a cube pattern on it just like Tomioka's. Why does everything remind her of him? She struggled to push those out of her mind, but it was hard. His face was clear as day, and he looked so kind in them. She must have had some problem with her mind. Or so she thought.

After grabbing her sword, which was the only thing old that she wasn't forgetting about or replacing and was using everyday, she headed to the forest. It was a little far from her house, but she lived alone in a field far away from town anyway so she was definitely closer to the forest than anyone else's house. It was worth it. Living far away from anyone meant that she had that whole beautiful but strangely abandoned field to herself to wield her sword everyday out in the open without anyone questioning her. The town's people doesn't know what demons and demon slayers are anyway, so it would be hard to explain how you have a sword and why you are wielding it. She practiced for a good long four years to get to this state. Shinobu improved her poison making and had stronger waves of sword now, so she's ready.

Right infront of her, was that death trap. The forest. She doesn't know what was on the other side of it, so she must find out. For Tomioka, she thought. It would take a long time to figure out the death trap, so she decided to go in the morning. How stupid and naive of her old self to go at night. If it took the whole day to get to the other side to find Tomioka, or at least she thought he would be there, then she got to start early. It was time. Grabbing tightly on her sword, she marched forward. She will survive. Shinobu will survive for Tomioka Giyuu.
