Keeping Memories!

After everything was done, he even made sure his father took his medicines and put him to sleep… While laying down he was having constant thoughts of what happened, how and more importantly Why always him!!! 

He sat up in a jerk to feel the pain again all those things from his childhood just came in front of him… Where he knew what made his mother go away… It wasn't just that Riya's birth complications it was that scar that was given to him when he was barely 4 years he saw a very low in his life, he saw his mother die, father broken into pieces a sister who was just 3 months old in the cradle crying for her mother! What happened that made Rehan make think about the world as a cruel world, especially the rich people? That hurt, that suffering, suffocation made him run away from the bed and sit in the balcony! He had those tears in his eyes which were hidden from the world, especially from his baba and jaan! That broken Rehan had come out for the first time after all this time! 

That 4 year old Rehan was still there in him! All the moments came in front of him! Right from a happy family to a devastated family! He sat down on the armchair, and had been looking at the moon speaking to him after a very long time…

R: bahut saal hogaye aapse maine baat nai ki! Kya karu kabhi bhai bana tha kabhi Ma to kabhi beta! Time hi nai mila, aur jab time mila to aap main, main… Apni Ma ko dekh ta tha… Isiliye kabhi aapki taraf dekh bhi nai…. 

Having just spoken about his mother he had tears in his eyes.. It wa quiet evident that he was still in that moment of his life where he had been running around in the hospital for help or where he saw his baby sister crying out for the presence of her mother and she was right next to her lifeless mother! Each and every thing was still felt by him! What was that scar? Why? Who? When? All those questions were still going on in his mind! When he tried to forget that Maya came in his life and everything was again brought out in the form of their fights, her taunts and then the world's biggest mistake (which he thought) the second chance and love! That one heart break, broke him so much that he pretended to smile, sing and act like he was drunk and speak to Maya the way he was while returning! His eyes spoke a story of emptiness, pain and lost something precious! Not that Maya wasn't close to him, but the trust that he had on her was broken he was a big joke to everyone after that challenge took place! 

Yes he wanted to earn money and be the richest person, making sure nor his father had to work or he had to do double shifts after his college! He wanted to earn money not to show people his status but to make sure those hard times never came back in their life, especially when jaan is there! After all she was the apple of his eye, wanted the best of things for her, even if it meant sacrificing his own needs! And she knew that her protector, her brother would go to any extent to see her happy and she would go to any for him!

After all he was her mother, brother, sister, best friend, advisor, her bhaiyu! He meant the world to her, even her baba didn't know her that well as he knew her! The comfort they had with each other especially Riya with Rehan was something that only she could understand it! Right from changing her nappies to braiding her hair to teaching to walk to make mistakes and learn from them! The level of confidence that she had in her was due to her brother... She could go out with her friends even at late hours as he had made sure she had at least learnt a few self defense techniques in her time of need! All in the colony knew the way Rehan treated his sister, not as a baby sister but an elegant lady who spoke her thoughts and he heard it and made her take her decisions on her own rather than depending on him or baba! And baba was happy to see his  children happy and growing together with love and care for the other!

Yeah they did see a bad time where baba and his work were jeopardized, which took a toll on his health and made Rehan work even harder managing his studies and riya! But made sure Jaan never picked up any work out of the burden of the responsibilities but out of compassion!

This was one of the few things that Rehan had inculcated in Riya and even made sure she had even respect for everyone be it rich or poor, old or young! Yeah he never preached respect the rich as he had seen the worst phase in his life due to them not once but twice and even now! But Riya hasn't seen them yet... Respecting the people who respect her was a fair deal no matter what their status was! He did warn her about the world and it's cruel ways of breaking you, but even gave her the confidence of getting back on her feet again and fighting!

While he just sat on the armchair and thought about the struggles that he has been doing along with his baba! A gentle hand reached out to him, while his eyes were shut and had and a tear droplet at the edge! He knew that was his Jaans hand he knew he had to leave the broken Rehan behind so he swallows his feelings and smile! She saw younger to him, but knew him very well, and he knew it well!

Bhaiyu aap thik ho na?
Aap mujse kuch chupa to nai rahe ho na? You know you can talk to me the way I do with you! - Riya

Jaan phele ye batao why are you still awake? Tum to so rahi thi when I came back! And how did you wake up and why?
Khud ka kuch dhayan rakha hai ki nai? - The elder brother popped out!

Bhaiyu aap baat ko ghumma rahe ho! Aapke trip par kuch hua hai... I know that you are upset with something... Aap bata bhi do you will feel better! Par aapne to baat ko ghuma diya and yes I took care of myself as well as baba! Gave him meds properly and woke up to go the bathroom and saw the door open so came out to check! - Riya spoke this while rolling her eyes upwards and playing with her hair.

Good girl! Aur waise kuch hua nai hai.. Was just thinking about the upcoming exams and wasn't been able to sleep so Bahar aaya tha... Dadi aama ban gai ho and full on nautanki! 😅 Hitting on her head gently and pulling her cheeks he said.. Winking at her, he very well knew his sister would not leave him for calling her that!

Bhaiyu aapne muje dadi aama and nautanki bhulaya! How can you? Jaao main aapse baat nai karungi... Pouting her lips with sad face, looking at the ground she told him to leave her!

Thik hai baat nai karogi to gift jo laya hoon I must give to someone else perhaps... Tum to mujse naraz ho, baat nai karogi.. So what's the use of the gift na! - Rehan
As he turned his back on her!

GIFT! with surprise and excitement she looked at Rehan and he knew she would react the same exact way! Jumping on him she asked him for her gift!

Fir tum mujse naraz ho! And weren't going to talk right? 🤔

Bhaiyu... You know very well how to play games with me so you can just talk to me!

Kal subhe tumhe tumara gift mil jayega... I promise.. But for that promise me that you will study and work hard!

Promise bhaiyu! With a smile Riya went along with Rehan inside and slept!

Ps extremely sorry was busy with a lot of work! Wishing you all a happy diwali and new year! (Belated one) I won't be more active for this entire month as well 😐 thanks to the exams! But will make sure to at least post once a week!
