Closing her eyes and breathing in deeply, she listened to the pellets of rain as they hit the ground.

And she let her mind wander back to her safe haven where she knew her thoughts had no boundaries, no restrictions.

Reminscing about good and bad memories, she let out the breath she had been holding.

She was so happy back then.
Everyone she loved surrounded her
And there wasn't anything that could make her happier.

But she grew up.
Stopped believing in fairy tales and everything she had been so naive about.

Things changed.
They no longer felt the same.
No, they no longer felt right.
Growing up and seeing how naive and trusting she was.

She stopped.
Stopped trusting people as much as she used to.
Stopped making promises she knew she wouldn't be able to fulfil.

The world was no longer in bright colours.

No, it was black and white.
At least in her eyes.
She was scared.
Fearful to have her heart broken so she built walls around herself.

These walls got higher and stronger to break as everyone she trusted broke their promises.

They distanced themselves from her.
And because she loved them, she chased after them.

It became a pattern.
Something she was used to.
Getting used to having her trust broken and forgiving.

One day, she just stopped.
Stopped caring about what people said to and about her.

She stopped chasing after them, even though she loved them.

Cause how could she?
Chase after someone who's not willing to stop running?

Not willing to stop and give you a chance?

The world and it's evil had changed her.

Not for the worse but for the better.
She was fragile and she knew it.
And she had every intention to keep her  heart from being broken again.

It had taken her years of pain to patch up the broken pieces of her heart and she wasn't willing to let the same mistake repeat itself twice.
