"You say what?" I gasped.
I hate to say it, buy I was mad because she had a boyfriend before me. Not because she was too young.
"Yep, it's Harley Anderson."
Anderson? Where did I here that name before?
"His brother Finn goes to your highschool."
Got it!
I tried very hard not to kill Ari that second. Then I determined it was not needed. I could use a spy.
"Really?" Chris said with a smirk, intending to mock the situation at me.
"Yeah, but he only likes me for my hair." Ari said.
"Wow." I said, still trying to believe that one, my sister's dating my one true love's little brother, and two Ariana Hallaway, the girl in the 5th grade scared of the dark was talking like this.
"Yeah, but I don't care as long as that bitch Diane won't get to him."
If only the world could see how surprised I was. She cursed at the mall, OK, she cursed in front of her whole school at an award ceremony, hilarious yet still OK, now she just cursed and got a boyfriend from jealousy.
When did this bitch hit puberty, and why wasn't I notified. The little girl who for several times a week I thought was still six. The girl who's face made you think you were looking at my daughter. Now a full grown... Alexia.
"I..." I began.
I considered the fact it may be good to stay quiet. I had nothing to day anyway.
(Fast forward some)
Looking around the light blue room nearly made me have a seizure.
"This isn't healthy." I said. I was partially serious.
"It's beautiful isn't it." Christina smiled.
I looked very concerned at Chris.
"When did you do this to your room?"
"Not to long ago."
"OK, so I'm not crazy. I knew I didn't see this before."
"Yeah, my dad did it for my birthday."
I walked curiously around the TFIOS themed room. A picture of both her and Jerry hung above her bed. Under Jerry's picture bold black letter's spelled out "Okay?" And under her picture was the corresponding "Okay ."
The walls were painted this sickening bright acrylic light blue paint, with white clouds randomly painted in different places. The ceiling, the only part I liked, was painted a dark blue black color (Yuck quoting the book) with yellow stars everywhere.
Then her bed set had the words " Our little infinity" written on it in a beautiful cursive. With the two pillows in the shape of clouds saying "Okay"
I rubbed my fingers over the brown dresser towards the guest bed that our dads brought up earlier.
"I feel so poor." I laughed.
I really did. For minutes I compared the princess room to my regular yellow walled room with splashes of pink accessories.
"My Uncle paid for it."
That explained it. Richest person in my family was my cousin David, who owned over half the shares of Chipotle. Of course he would die before giving 10¢ to any of us. So, my room was a great success from my middle class life.
"I'm tired." I said.
"Okay." Chris said, "The bed is yours."
(The next week Love Laces performance)
My heart pounded like a bass drum Thump Thump Thump it banged. We sold out, the first day of sales. Me and Finn rehearsed our lines back and fourth behind stage.
But I knew I was going to get out there and forget.
"It's alright." Finn said smiling.
I guess he could see I was going to have an asthma attack... with no asthma.
I deeply exhaled. "Okay." I said.
Spending a week in Chris's room would force you to quote TFIOS.
Mrs. Edwards began speaking on stage introducing us.
"We have worked for months on this production, trying to fully capture this beautiful love story," she began.
She continued into the description and all that other stuff directors do to give the actors time to cool down.
"Ready?" Finn said.
"Yeah." I said. I was so nervous I couldn't think about him in a crush-like way.
"Don't worry, your going to do perfect. You always do." He said.
Thanks for bringing the feelings back up Finn.
"Thanks." I said.
The curtain began to open.
"Now go get um."
I quickly exhaled and got into position.
"Who's that?" Theater club girl said, in the role of Carren.
"I'm the best track star you'll ever meet." I said.
(Afterwards)
I was completely breathless. My hearing underwater, and my eyes focused on the floor from me bowing.
I gave it all I could. Now I was dying to see the reaction.
All of a sudden like thunder the claps rang. Along with the screams of hundreds. I looked back up. My adrenaline was running on max from excitement. The whole crowd stood up for us.
I couldn't help but cry tears of joy. I looked over at Finnick, who was standing right next to me.
He was smiling too.
"Now that was a performance." Mrs.Edwards said.
It really was.
