Chapter 4: The Kiss

The school year went by and we got a summer break finally. Me and link and Rhett agreed to meet at the old bridge going over a really rapid river. As the bell rung I ran out of class before Mrs. Locklear could say "class dismissed". Everybody followed me. I smiled. I ran down the street. Even though it will take like 20 minutes to walk home I ran all the way to the bridge. "Hey Lucy May wait up!" Link and Rhett yelled running after me. I giggled and ran and touched the bridge. "Ha you two are rotten eggs I touched the bridge first" I said. We all laughed and dangled our arms over the bridge. We sat down and talked for a while. We talked about school and hoping our 2nd grade teachers are the same and then link brought up something. "I heard there's this new thing that someone's invented called the Internet" link said. Me and Rhett are confused as hell. We looked at the newspaper link pulled out of his bag. The top headline says

Us three read the article a little confused from the big vocabulary they use. "Do you guys wanna meet at the pool tomorrow" I said. The boys nodded. "Wow it's 4pm I have to go home to do homework and have a bath" Rhett said looking at his Spider-Man watch. "I'll see you guys tomorrow bye!" Rhett yelled hoping on his bike and peddling across the grass to the pathway. We waved to Rhett an looked into each other's Ocean blue eyes. I smiled. That's when link did the unexpected. He leaned in and kissed me on the lips. 6 year olds kissing. I know I know. That's when I realised link truly loves me. It was a short but powerful kiss and by that I have never been kissed my a boy and it felt special. It made me feel special. Loved, I haven't felt that in forever. Loved. My mothers always rushing to work that she has never had time to help with my homework or even put me to bed. I wish I had a mother who would at least spend 5 minutes with me.
