Something surprising happened this morning, my father came to visit me. It surprised me because he rarely visits and we hardly speak. I would have thought that he would have went back to his new family but there he was.
My mother must have given him my address because only my mom and sister know where I live.
"The craziest thing happened today." I tell my mom as I pop a grape in my mouth. "Dad came to see me."
"I know." She gives me a tight smile. "He told me all about it."
"Since when are you guys all buddy buddy?" I tease and she gives me a look. "Relax, it's a joke."
She doesn't say anything and I furrow my brows at her reaction.
"Like mother, like daughter." I hear someone mutter as they walk past.
"Anyways whatever you said to dad worked, it was so refreshing to have him come to the house and actually be positive." I smile to myself. "He told me that he wants to build a relationship with me and even though it's been so long, I think that I may be ready to give him a chance."
My mom says nothing.
"I kind of miss Zion." I mutter.
"Why did you date him?" She suddenly asks. "Is it because he looked like your dad?"
I scoff at her words, "I dated Zion because he was my bestfriend and I loved him. Not to be rude but Zion is better looking than dad."
"Don't be rude." She gives me a nasty look and I narrow my eyes at her.
"Your braid look cute." I tell her.
"Thanks." She gives me a fake smile and I purse my lips at her.
"Have I done something wrong?" I say before faking a smile for the people walking past. "Why'd you have an attitude?"
"Kylie, just leave it." She gives me a look. "Now is not the time or place."
"No, I want to know." I slightly raise my voice.
"Picture?" A photographer comes up to us and we smile for the picture.
