"S-Sasuke..?"
Naruto went to move but Kakashi grabbed his wrist to stop him. He turned and saw Kakashi shaking his head, but he ignored it and ripped his arm away, continuing towards the boy lying on the beach.
"Sasuke..?" Naruto kneeled down beside him, closely followed by Sakura. His eyes were drawn to the open wound on Sasuke's arm, and reached out to it. The second Naruto touched his wrist, Sasuke shot up and flipped over, shaking as he dug his nails into the sand and coughed up sea water. Naruto and Sakura jumped back, expecting Sasuke to try and fight them, but he didn't. They watched as he kept coughing and struggling to breathe, but neither was going to approach him then, despite their desire to help their ex-teammate and old friend. He stopped coughing and his arms soon gave out from under him, he fell to the ground and curled into a ball resting one hand infront of his face and the other digging into his gut. Sasuke looked toward them with tears in his eyes, shaking from the pain and the cold water soaking his clothes. His sharingan was flickering like a glitch and Sakura flinched away, thinking he was going to put them under a genjutsu, when in all reality he couldn't see past his own hand. Everything was blurring, his breathing ragged, the pain in his chest was suffocating... he couldn't focus on anything, it was as if his head was filled with smoke. Sakura looked at the way Sasuke's lip trembled and she could see the fear building up in his eyes, whatever happened to him must have been worse than anything they've seen thus far. Naruto seemed to take notice too, they exchanged glances and Naruto spoke up, "Wha-What happened to you?".
They inched forward but as they did so Sasuke seemed to just... give up. He closed his eyes and within seconds he had stopped shivering and the grip he had on his stomach loosened. Kakashi and Sai got closer and Sakura rushed to Sasuke's side fearing the worst.
"Sakura, what's wrong?" Naruto sat next to her as she looked over Sasuke's unconscious body. She rolled him onto his back and cupped his face with her hands. She kept turning his head and checking various things trying to get a reaction from him but nothing worked, then she saw the dots. She peeled back his wet shirt and ran her fingers over the various puncture wounds along his shoulder and collar.
"Whoa... What's that?" Naruto asked, peering over Sakura's shoulder.
"I... Think he's been poisoned..." The fear in her voice was evident, "We need to get him to a hospital!"
She spun toward Kakashi, pleading with him.
"I don't have the proper equipment to fix it! We gotta carry him back!"
Kakashi walked over to Sasuke and saw the way his chest was rising inconsistently with his breathing.
"We better hurry."
Kakashi took off his vest and tossed it over Sasuke. He picked him up and held Sasuke close trying to warm him as they ran through the forest back to Konoha.
-Time Skip-
When Sasuke awoke all he felt was the cold, stone floor. He couldn't move, he couldn't see.
"You're awake."
A woman's voice echoed around him, "I'm sure you can figure out where you are, and I'm sure you know exactly why you're here."
He didn't. There was a long silence before she spoke again.
"Think it's smart, keeping your mouth shut? Well, maybe so, but you're going to have to talk. We're going to interrogate you later, and you can thank Naruto that we're not just locking you up here forever."
He listened to the clicking of her heels as she walked away, and left him lying there tied in cloth wondering what she was talking about. He didn't know the answer to any of those questions, and he certainly didn't why he should thank this... Naruto.
Sure enough, she did return. Along with some others, he couldn't tell exactly but it sounded like two of them. He heard the creaking of iron and knew someone was standing next to him. They grabbed Sasuke by his arms and lifted him up, forcing him to walk between them. He had no clue where they were, what was infront of him, or where they were going, but he couldn't do anything else other than follow alongside them.
The questioning went on for hours and none of them believed him when he said he didn't remember anything or have any idea what they were talking about. They had to get a specialist of sorts, he was sitting alone in that room for quite awhile while they fetched him. Punches were thrown in a last attempt to get him to talk, and since no one believed his cries it lead to a complete memory scan. It felt like hours before they finally stopped and Sasuke felt like he could breathe properly again. His voice was hoarse from screaming and it pained him to breathe but it was still better than suffocating.
"There's nothing, he wasn't lying."
"H-how? Normally when someone's memory is erased it leaves some traces of chakra or something! It- how did someone erase all his memories without leaving a single trace to follow?"
"I'm not sure, but we can't very well punish him for the crimes he doesn't know he committed."
"We can keep watch on him, in case."
The voices faded around him and got distorted as the ringing in his ears got louder. Everything ached, he could feel the blindfold getting wet with his tears... Sasuke was ready to just lie down and sleep for eternity.
The last thing he remembers before passing out was his blindfold getting untied and seeing a woman with long blonde hair.
