"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura ran down the street and wrapped her arm around him, "I'm here~! You ready to go?"
Sasuke moved her arm off of him, "If I wasn't then I wouldn't be standing out here."
"Jeez, what's got you so moody?" She put her hands on her hips and leaned forward to look him in the eyes.
"It's nothing. Just Naruto being annoying."
"Well~ If it's any consolation, he's always been like that. I'm just surprised it took you this long to realize." She started walking away and Sasuke followed close behind.
"Glad to be distracted right now..." He muttered to himself, kicking a rock while they walked.
She took him to various stores around town and picked out various outfits she thought would look good on him. Or rather, that men would think look good. Of course she didn't say that but she was glancing around the store, looking for someone Sasuke might like...
She made gay jokes every 2 minutes, mostly "we need to get you more tops, and I don't mean shirts". Sasuke was seconds away from just leaving her in the store.
"We're going back to my place." She mentioned as they left the store.
"Why? I don't want to stick around if you're just going to keep making gay jokes." He glared at her from the corner of his eye.
"No, no. I'm just going to stitch your clan symbol on some of your new clothes."
"My... Clan symbol..?" He turned to her, a puzzled expression on his face.
"Uh, yeah..? Every family has a clan symbol, yours was a fire fan."
He looked down at his hands, "My family... huh..?"
Sakura looked over at him, "Oh, right, you don't know your family." She stalled for a second before continuing, "I never knew them either, but you always had that fan on the back of your shirts. You... Seemed really proud of your name."
Sasuke fiddled with the ends of his shirt, trying to think back and remember anything at all about his family, but to no avail.
Sakura looked over at a shop full of customers and changed the topic, "Hey, Sasuke? Is there anyone you like?"
He looked over at her, "What do you mean?"
"Well, you never really talked to anyone and you used to hate me and Naruto, so... is there anyone you actually love?"
He was silent for a second, as he thought back on everyone he's met so far, that day he was on the couch watching Naruto cook flashed into his mind, "No, if you mean romantically, no."
His mind wandered to Naruto's wet hair at the time, and his bright smiles, but quickly shook that away.
He watched Sakura sew on some of the symbols and then he headed back home with his bags of clothes.
When he got back Naruto was waiting on the couch for him, "Sasuke~ I'm sorry~..." He whined, "I'm gonna make it up to you! We're going out for dinner tonight, and this time it's not ramen!" He got up and stood infront of Sasuke, giving a thumbs up and a stupid smile.
"I'm only going because I'm starved, not so you can flaunt you skills over me again."
"I said I'm sorry for that!" He pouted.
Sasuke dropped off all his bags in their bedroom and they left the house.
They went out to a fancy place called Takeichi. Naruto struggled to stop himself from just ordering ramen like always, and they ended up ordering yaki udon and mochi.
"Sasuke, do you forgive me yet?" Naruto asked after awhile.
"No." Sasuke's voice was harsh and cold, but really he found himself feeling warm when he looked at Naruto.
Sasuke remembered his conversation with Sakura earlier, "What's your clan symbol, Naruto?"
"Huh? Why are you asking that?" Naruto looked up from his food to answer him.
"Sakura and I started talking about my clan while I was out with her today, I was just curious..."
"Well, uh, It's this red circle with a whirlpool swirl in it. You know, the one on my jacket." Naruto flipped his jacket off his chair and showed him the circle, "My last name... Is Uzumaki, it means whirlpool, so..."
"So with my name..." Sasuke added, "Uchiha, it can be pronounced like Uchiwa..? That means paper fan so maybe that's why I have it?"
"I... Guess so!" Naruto put his jacket back over his chair and continued eating.
"Did you know anyone in my family? You know... before this?" Sasuke mumbled, twirling his finger around in a circle near his head.
"No, I didn't even know you until I was 5 or so." He went silent for a second, "Is this something else you and Sakura talked about?"
"Yeah, she told me about my clan, she didn't know anyone either when I asked her. ...Why can't I see them? W-what happened- Why does no one know them?"
Naruto quite obviously tensed up at his questions, "Uhmmm... I- They were just never here... Yeah! They don't live in Konoha! They left you here because it's safer here than where they were." Naruto smiled but Sasuke could see straight through his lie.
"Where's your family? I mean... Sakura lives with her parents, so why don't you?"
Naruto suddenly appeared... Sad... His face seemed to lose it's usual positivity, "I always lived alone... since I was 5 or so, my parents died protecting me when I was born." Naruto poked at the food he had left with his chopsticks.
"I'm sorry... Sorry for bringing it up..." Sasuke mumbled.
"I don't know anything about your family, but I'm sure they loved you, Sasuke." Naruto gave a half-hearted smile, trying to lighten the mood.
They talked as they finished their food and by the time they left, Naruto's laughter filled the empty streets and he had Sasuke smiling again.
