Naruto got quite a scolding from Sakura as she ranted on and on about everything he didn't listen to. Sasuke couldn't hear a lot of it as she whispered to Naruto, obviously not wanting Sasuke to hear. She finally stopped and turned back to Sasuke, "...Sasuke... What are you wearing?"
He looked down at his clothes and shrugged, "Why? What's wrong with it?"
Sakura gestured to the jacket he had on, "Why are you wearing Naruto's jacket?"
Before Sasuke could respond, Naruto interjected, "Hey! Why'd you say it like that!?" He crossed his arms and pouted, "Maybe he likes my clothes..."
Sasuke and Sakura gave him a look like he was crazy and Sasuke gave her a real answer, "It's cold, I don't have a jacket so I grabbed his."
Sakura was silent for a minute, "You need new clothes, and Naruto needs a better fashion sense."
Naruto gasped and started yelling at her. Sasuke found himself getting more and more annoyed by their bickering every second and just walked away. Sakura saw him and ran after him, followed by Naruto who was still yelling up until he saw Sasuke ahead.
"Sasuke! Where're you going?" Naruto called out, trying to catch up with them.
"Your fighting is giving me headaches so I'm leaving."
"Sorry!" Naruto clasped his hands together infront of him, apologizing for being so loud. "Well, do you remember anything about us now?" He continued.
"No... But I know your names, I think." Sasuke pointed to him, "You're Naruto," he switched to pointing at the pinkette beside him, "and you're... Sakura..?" She smiled and nodded with her hands behind her back.
"Lets go find Kakashi-sensei then!" Naruto shouted, fists in the air to show his excitement.
They led Sasuke to multiple places around town, searching for their teacher and finally found him in a bookstore.
"Kakashi-sensei!" Sakura called to him, waving. "We brought Sasuke!" Naruto added, smiling again.
The masked man stood from his spot on the floor and waved back to Sakura, "Yo!"
Once they got closer Kakashi seemed to stare at Sasuke, "I see Naruto's been kind to you." He smiled under the mask.
"Hehe-yeah! I even let him have some of my ramen!" Naruto rubbed the back of his neck, smile just getting brighter with each interaction. 'He's just a beam of light, isn't he?' Sasuke thought.
"I'll be taking you out soon to get some equipment, so we can stop for clothes too." Kakashi offered to Sasuke.
"I suppose since you two are here, we can find Sai and begin training a bit early today?" Kakashi continued. Naruto groaned but they went anyway, Sakura and Naruto were sent off to go find Sai while Kakashi showed Sasuke where the training grounds are.
"Here we are," Kakashi said as they arrived at an open clearing, "Since you don't remember anything, I'm going to be teaching you how to fight again. You'll be a shinobi like you were before you..." He trailed off, not wanting to risk telling Sasuke about his past.
"Before I what?"
"Ah... Nothing, you started training before but, you never continued with it." Kakashi didn't like liars, but it was for good reason.
"How about we start with some chakra manipulation?" Kakashi lead the conversation elsewhere.
"What the hell is chakra?" Sasuke seemed disgusted or angry at this, but really he was just confused. He just has more questions everytime he turns around and frankly, it's starting to get overwhelming.
"Chakra is a stream of energy that runs through the body like a nervous system, it allows for the use of jutsu and it keeps us alive." Kakashi tried to explain, but Sasuke didn't seem to get it.
He sighed and sat down on a rock infront of Sasuke, "Here, let me just show you." Kakashi gathered the chakra around his hand and formed a lightning blade.
"This is what my chakra looks like solidified, I can form it into different shapes and use hand signs to perform jutsu like this easier, I'm going to try teaching you everything you used to know about your chakra and the jutsu you had." Sasuke was mesmerized by the way his hand shot out sparks of lightning and glowed faintly blue. He didn't even realize Naruto and Sakura were back, with another boy.
"Hey, Kakashi-sensei, what are you doing?" Naruto called out as they approached him.
Kakashi dissolved his chakra and got up from the rock, "Teaching, but I suppose we should get to training now."
Kakashi had them sparring while he went back to teaching Sasuke about his chakra. By the end of the day he was able to summon his chakra around his hand similar to Kakashi but it was far less stable of a jutsu, he could only keep it for a few minutes before it dissolved against his will. It made sense though, considering he couldn't use his sharingan to copy it off Kakashi anymore.
Sakura introduced him to Sai before he left with Naruto, but Sai didn't seem too keen on this meeting. Sasuke didn't really like him either. Naruto and Sasuke went out for dinner, seeing as the only food he had was ramen, and the walk back home was dark. The only thing guiding their way was the houses and the moon.
"So you still don't remember anything? After meeting Sakura and Kakashi again, training with us, you still can't?" Naruto turned his head to face Sasuke. He shook his head.
"I'm more confused than before, I can't remember whatever it is you guys are talking about and I just keep getting more information that I can't understand."
Sasuke looked down as he walked, hands in his pockets, "The way you and Sakura treat me, makes me think we were friends before this, whatever that before is... And Kakashi..? He... Seems to know more about me personally than even I know."
There was silence between them.
"I don't know how much you remember. About yourself, that is... But... I feel like we all know you better than you know." Naruto crossed his arms behind his head while he walked and closed his eyes, "Before you lost your memory, I don't think you considered any of us friends, but I never stopped believing you were the best friend I've ever had. I remember one time we were on a mission, we were fighting rogue nin from the village hidden in the mist. We were stuck in one of their traps and the enemy was throwing needles at us, I was supposed to die right then and there but you risked your life to save me. That's the moment I knew we were better friends than you'd ever let on." Naruto sighed and looked to the ground, "I thought you died that day, so did Sakura. I went into a rage when that happened and Sakura was crying when she saw you lying there on the ground bloody and still. She hugged you and rocked back and fourth, crying until you woke up." Sasuke was silent, his chest felt tight picturing Sakura that upset over something he did, and Naruto giving his all just to make sure his friends would be safe again.
"Why... Why wouldn't I have considered you guys friends?" Sasuke's voice was quiet but not unheard.
"I think you were too focused on other things, but you never liked to talk. Actually I've gotten more out of you today than the last 7 to 9 years I've known you." Naruto chuckled and dropped his arms back down to his sides.
Sasuke was silent the rest of the way home, listening to Naruto's stories, past memories that he just... didn't have anymore.
