Sasuke woke up next to Naruto again, who was still softly snoring. He lied there in bed observing how the light shone on Naruto's face, he didn't even realize how long he'd been lying there until Naruto started to stir. He sat up on the edge of the bed, fast as he could so Naruto wouldn't see the red blush dotting his face.
"Mmm... Sasuke? What are you doing?" The way he spoke made him sound kinda drunk, but with a softer tone.
"It's morning, I'm going to make breakfast." He answered, getting up off the bed and throwing on his purple t-shirt, "You should get up too, we have a mission today, remember?"
"Mrrrrmmmm..." Naruto grunted, shoving his face in the pillow. Sasuke walked to the bathroom and splashed some water on his face, trying to cool himself down. When he looked up again he was surprised by Naruto's reflection in the mirror, standing in the doorway next to him.
"I want ramen." Naruto yawned.
"You're getting rice and eggs. You need a better meal than ramen before a mission." Sasuke glared.
"Noo~" Naruto whined. Sasuke walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder, "... You're getting rice and eggs." He nodded, smirking at Naruto as he walked past him and into the kitchen.
They ran to the village entrance just in time to leave with the rest of team 7.
Kakashi threw two, yellow, poncho-like jackets at the both of them, "It's going to get cold where we're going, you'll want those."
Sasuke noticed that Sakura and Sai both had their jackets too.
So, they set out to Yukigakure, the village hidden in the snow.
They ran through the woods for the first few hours until Naruto started complaining and they had to slow down...
They camped out under the roots of a giant tree  the first night out. Sasuke couldn't help but stand there, staring at this tree. Naruto seemed to have the same idea, while everyone else went on in. Naruto ran up to the tree and used his chakra to climb up, Sasuke running after him, happy that he didn't falter in the slightest while he followed Naruto up the trunk. When he caught up to Naruto, he was sitting on the edge of a branch looking at the moon.
"Naruto, what are we doing up here?" Sasuke went and sat down next to him.
"I don't know, you're the one who followed me."
They sat next to eachother in silence, just watching the clouds move past stars and covering up the moonlight for a few seconds. Sasuke looked over at Naruto, watching as the moonlight came back and lit up his face with a blue glow. He could feel his heart beat faster as he sat there with his bestfriend, staring at the sky. Sasuke put his hand up to his heart, feeling the beat and trying to calm it.
"What are you two doing up here?"
He whiped his head around to see Sakura, it wasn't helping him to calm down, having her sneak up on them.
"Watching the stars? Apparently..." Sasuke answered, standing up again.
"Well... We're supposed to get some sleep, so unless you two are sleeping up here with the cold..."
"No, I'm coming down." Sasuke answered quietly, like a child who's being forced to say 'sorry'. Naruto followed close behind them down the tree, and Sasuke couldn't stop thinking about how fast his heart was beating. Maybe he was nervous, no... That couldn't be it...
They slept side-by-side under this tree while Yamato and Kakashi stayed up, taking turns keeping guard.
Sasuke woke up after everyone else. They were eating already and when he sat up there was a shooting pain up his neck. He instinctively put his hand up to the spot it hurt most and massaged the area.
"Goodmorning, you must have been tired." Kakashi brought up. "Sore from training?" He asked, noticing Sasuke was rubbing his neck.
"I guess so..." He lowered his arm and stood up to go sit with the group. They ate their food and emerged from under the tree to continue their journey. The pain got worse as they went on, he could ignore it most of the way but eventually he was clenching his teeth with each step. Kakashi took notice and kept an eye on him. They kept going and Sasuke could feel his body starting to give up, the pain spread down his arm and it was a struggle to breathe properly. A few more steps and his legs gave out under him, he fell the the ground, hands splashing into a puddle of mud as he tried to catch himself and he screamed out in pain. Everyone turned to look at him, confused.
"Hello again, Sasuke. Long time no see~"
They spun around to see Orochimaru standing before them, Naruto cringed as the snake let his tongue roll out of his mouth and lick his lips.
"Hey! What are you doing here!? Why can't you just leave Sasuke alone!?" Naruto screamed at him.
"If you're worried the boy will remember me, don't be. He's never getting those memories back." Orochimaru hissed through his teeth.
He looked back at Sasuke, who couldn't even lift his head. It looked like Sasuke was about to collapse, Naruto looked back and Orochimaru was gone. Everyone was looking around before their eyes landed on Sasuke, Naruto catching on, he turned as well. Orochimaru was kneeled infront of him, forcing his head up with the palm of his hand. Sasuke let out a shriek as Orochimaru turned his head, causing the pain to flair. All he could focus on was the wetness and the burning feeling when Orochimaru licked the curse mark on his neck. His cries got louder as Orochimaru got closer and whispered in his ear. Kakashi tried to move, tried to help, but even he couldn't seem to do anything to stop it. Sasuke's eyes widened as Orochimaru pulled away, they looked on as tears streamed down Sasuke's face. He tried desperately to focus on anything other than the mark, that was flairing a bright red and orange, he tried to keep his vision clear but found himself blinded. The team watched on as Orochimaru's body dissolved into a great many snakes that slithered away into the grass, and they were finally able to move. Kakashi threw his kunai, hitting one of the snakes in the head and killing it instantly. Naruto rushed over to Sasuke as his body finally collapsed, falling into the puddle of mud, unconscious, with tears running down his face.
