I barely made it to class on time. When I stumbled through the door, he looked up at me. He chuckled as I went past his desk, making a lot of noise. When the class finally started, he slipped me a note:
"Hey Kamila! We should hang out after class-I need to tell you something.
-Matt"
So that was his name! Matt! Matt....
In response to his note, I met his eyes and smiled. He blushed a little bit. I spent the rest of class thinking about what he would possibly need to tell me. "Does he love me? Wait, no. I've only known him for a few days, he can't possibly love me." More thoughts were thrown around in my head. "Maybe he'll just ask about the homework? But why would he blush if it wasn't something romantic?"
I counted down the seconds until the period ended, then sprinted to the hallway. I waited for him casually, like this wasn't the biggest, most important moment of my life. Matt came through the door and looked around for me. When he saw me, his face softened. He came up to me and we walked down the hallway for a bit. I didn't want to say anything and break the silence, so I just let him lead me to the elevator. He punched in floor 23, a floor that I had never been on before.Matt put his hand on the doorknob and told me to close my eyes. I closed them and allowed him to lead me into the room. When I heard the door slam, I opened my eyes. It was magnificent! Like the Skydeck at the Willis Tower in Chicago! Me and mom had gone there last summer. I reminded myself that I'm not supposed to be thinking about mom, so I turned my attention back to Matt. He was waiting for my reaction. I just ran to hug him.
After spending half an hour here, I was still amazed at this place.
"So, does the the "B" on the door stand for bubble?" I asked.
"Smart girl." He winked. "Just don't tell anyone about it, I mean, it's not like the adults come in here anymore. It can just be our little secret."
"I'd like that." I smiled.
He looked down at the city.
"Oh shoot! Next period is starting soon, were going to be late!" I exclaimed.
"Ahh that's alright. It's practically still your first day:the honeymoon period. You could not show up and they wouldn't notice."
I'd never missed class before, but I decided that I could do it just this once, since Matt was being so open and honest with me.Eventually, Matt and I got hungry so we snuck down to the cafeteria right before lunch to grab some food. Matt ran in to grab a whole bunch of food. When we got back to the safety of our bubble room, I giggled.
"Why'd you bring all this food? Were you expecting company?" I joked.
"I just-didn't know what you'd like."
"Awww that's sweet. Thank you."After the whole day, I wasn't sure what to make of us. So I asked him. I wouldn't normally do this but I'm supposed to be going out of my comfort zone.
"So are we, like, dating?"
"....."
"I mean, I'm just wondering."
He didn't say any words, but he did kiss me. Right on the lips. It was so romantic that I never wanted it to end.Is love at first sight real?
