Claire and I became best friends, and, for a while, there were no boys in our lives. Neither of us are bad looking, I mean, a bunch of guys hit on us, but we turned them down. Friendship was the most important thing.

For a while.

One day, a boy walked up to Claire and she couldn't resist. From the way she excitedly looked at me, I knew this must be the famous Jake. Claire has had a crush on him forever, since she moved here....which was 4 years ago. And she's never gotten the courage to talk to him. Anyway, Jake comes up to her and goes:
"Hey, beautiful. Wanna go for a walk?"
Claire looks over at me for approval. I nod, happy for her.
She and him start walking down the hallway, and I just stare at their backs, getting farther and farther away. I'm such a sappy romantic, over other people's relationships.

After they turn a corner, I go back to my room and jump onto my bed. I play my favorite music and don't worry about anything except the lyrics. Not homework, not Claire, not Matt, just nothing. About and hour later, the door flings open and Claire runs in. I wait expectantly for her to fill me in on everything that just happened.

"Oh my gosh!" She screams. "We held hands and he told me that he liked me! Then when he dropped me off at my room, he kissed my hand! Like a real gentleman!" I screamed in response.
"Amazing!" Was all I could say.

Claire flops back onto my bed.
"I guess this means we're together." She remarks.
"Yeah, oh totally." I say.
"You're okay with that, right?"
I nodded. "Definitely." I say, reaching in to give her a hug.
"I'm so happy for you. Now, go to bed, you don't want to meet your new boyfriend tomorrow with bags under your eyes!" I joke.
She giggled slightly and said goodnight.

Then I was left alone to listen to my music once again.
