Travis' pov
It was the morning of the funeral. It was currently 8:30, and the funeral started at 11. I spent my morning trying to get ready and helping Cooper get ready.
He wasn't doing very well. He did just like my mom did when my dad died. He struggled doing just about anything. I had to force him to eat and brush his hair and wash his face in the morning and all the fun stuff like that.
I few hours went by and it was almost time to go. Everything was going pretty alright, until I watched Cooper exit the bathroom, wearing one of my dad's old suits.
"Do I look okay?" He said with a soft tone. His soft sweetness turning into concern as he watched the tears form in my eyes. I wanted to answer but I was too caught up in thought and forgot to say anything.
"Trav...?"
"Oh, oops. You look great Cooper."
"Are you okay..?"
"Yeah, I'm alright. Now come on we have to be there soon."
The funeral lasted for a few hours, but it went by pretty quickly. Almost everyone there cried, including Cooper and I.
After we got back home not much happened for the next week or so. I started going back to school on Friday and Cooper started going back on Wednesday. He struggled for a little bit, but he ended up okay.
He still stayed over at the house until that next Sunday, when he got a call from his brother asking if Cooper would go stay over with him. His brother was a few years older and lived in an apartment with his girlfriend.
Cooper and his brother weren't very close, but after the passing of their mom they started talking a lot more.
time skip kinda to that sunday morning
"Honestly, I don't know if I'm ready to go... It's really nice staying with you Trav."
"It's nice having you here, but we'll still be able to see each other and stuff," We spoke to one another while collecting all of Cooper's laundry and his school things.
"I just hope you know how much I lo-" He was cut off by a loud ringing coming from his phone
"Oh, looks like that's him. Hold on."
He answered the phone and was only on it for a few moments.
"I guess it's time for me to head over. He has stuff to do apparently."
"Ah.. Well.. Thank you for staying with me."
"Thank you for letting me stay with you.. I love you."
"I love you too, Coopie. See you tomorrow!" I said pulling him in for a quick hug.
"See you tomorrow, Trav," He said with a sad tone in his voice as he walked out the door.
In all honesty, I was really going to miss having him around. He really was my best friend.
But unfortunately, he was nothing more. Yet.
