Bullet's travel plants' taste was still in her mouth, she growled at the displeasing leftover taste. Silverwing looked at her with her sweet green eyes.
"They're as bad as fox dung, aren't they?"
"Yes- wait, how do you know what that tastes like?" Bullet squinted with concern.
"The smell." Silverwing laughed.
"Oh, true." Bullet's eyes glowed with amusement.Luke padded out of the wolves' den from his nap. I hope Arrow and Storm aren't getting into trouble over that she-wolf, she's such a distraction to his training, her green eyes and silver pelt. Why do wolves even care for love and mates? Luke shook his head. We all know how Twinkle almost left Raven and Timber to die of that lung infection by meeting up with Cameron instead of getting honey and mint leaves. He decided to go for a hunt since SkullPack had a shortage in their prey-pile. It was odd, it was the beginning of warming-season and prey usually came out of hiding, but the prey had decided to be delayed this moon. I hope the alphas' discuss the prey issue in the next HowlMeeting to see if it's not only SkullPack. He stepped out of the den-arena and scrunched his nose to an awful stench. It smells like poop! Luke turned away and sniffed the air for prey, trying to not get distracted by the stink. He walked forward and crossed the cliff-bridge, touching the rough surface of the rocky-path. He jumped from boulder to boulder to hunt a hare, the first one he's seen in a while. This isn't enough to feed all wolves of even SkullPack. I better give it to the smaller ones though.
"Oh my, you're sure a lucky wolf." Luke perked his ears and turned to the sound of the voice, a gray she-wolf came out from the woodland on FirePack's territory and stepped onto the bank of the FrostFire river, her amber eyes scorched his fur.
"Who are you?!" Luke's paws slipped and he slid off the big boulder he had caught the rabbit on, embarrassment heated beneath his pelt as he tried to grab the hare but something swept him back on. He looked around and his hare was missing.
"Wondering where it is?" The gray she-wolf smiled with the hare in her jaws.
"Give that back that's my hunt." Luke was embarrassed but also angry that the she-wolf stole his hunt.
"Of course." The she-wolf nosed over the hare with hunger haunting her amber eyes. He closely examined her and learned her scent, her bones were slightly poking through her pelt. She looks kind of starved...
"Are you okay?" Luke asked. "You look starved, no offense of course! Does FirePack have enough prey?.."
"Shortage." she finally responded with a laugh. "That wasn't offensive at all, not to me anyway. Prey has been scarce for some reason and it's warming-season, odd. My name is Rose." Wow! SkullPack aren't the only ones.
"Rose." Luke repeated. She has a pretty name. "My name is Luke."
"Oh nice." the she-wolf looked at the distant clouds covering the sun, making the sky a hue-less overcast. Luke stared with her, twitching his tail in curiosity. He admired Rose's red rose on her ear as it gave her character, and her gray fur shining in the warming-season sunlight.
"Did you smell anything funny this dawn?" he asked.
"Yeah, FirePack has been for days.." Rose answered. "I am wondering if it's also why the prey is hidden." She has a point.. Luke suddenly thought about it. He also looked back at Rose and her bones showing slightly beneath her pelt.
"Have this." Luke murmured. He nosed over the fat filled juicy hare, "you need this more than SkullPack."
"Oh no- I couldn't." Rose pushed away the hare.
"Take it, please." The brown and gray he-wolf nodded vigorously.
"If you say so. Thank you so much!" The gray she-wolf's sweet scent wreathed around him, and she licked him over the ears gratefully.Luke padded off from her feeling warm after doing a good thing for another wolf. He was thinking about her, that is, until the displeasing scent entered his nostrils again.
"Seriously, what is that?!" he growled.
A bird had fallen from the oak tree he had passed by, it was limp with rotting wings, and foam was forming around its' golden beak. The scent was strongest when it appeared in front of Luke. Suddenly he saw another FirePack wolf- not Rose.. it was one of Foxfur and Cameron's new pups, Russetleap.
"Who in their right mind lets their son loose and no supervision?" Luke watched the tiny male clumsily play around with a dead squirrel. The awful scent hit him stronger as Russetleap came closer to the FrostFire river bank at the other side. Russetleap's mouth began to form foam around it, and his eyes rolled back in his head. Luke's eyes widened. The squirrel also had sores split all over its' body and it had been in the rust colored wolf's mouth. Russetleap collapsed.
"DarkPack." the young wolf muttered possessively. Luke gasped and stared, frozen to his spot.
Bullet walked steadily next to Silverwing, the two she-wolves had a stronger bond so far. Storm seemed to have interest in talking to Arrow, but the black and white he-wolf avoided any eye contact with the other he-wolf.
"Silverwing! Watch out!" Storm called behind as Silverwing nearly crashed into the hanging branch. Arrow's ears perked immediately and he swung his head and turned, he ran behind and him and Storm crashed into each other when trying to grab the she-wolf out of the way.
"Sorry about that." Storm laughed, helping Silverwing out of the way instead.
"Did you not even consider me?" Bullet growled as she looked at her scratched paw. She was beginning to get annoyed with her brother and cousin's behavior.
"Sorry sis, and are you sure you're sorry Storm? Seems pretty insincere to me." Arrow barked without making eye contact.
"I meant it." Storm's gaze was slightly hurt and clouded with confusion. Bullet sighed and exchanged glances with her friend. The silver she-wolf blinked her green eyes in confusion and obliviously.
"Thanks Storm!" Silverwing added after a pause of silence.
"Wait but I also saved you-" Arrow began.
"You tried," she laughed, "thanks for that entertainment of crashing into Storm." Her eyes glanced back to the white he-wolf and the two made eye contact for a while. Her green eyes had shown admiration for Storm while they showed humor to Arrow. The silver she-wolf leaned in and licked the white he-wolf over his blue bullseye around his left eye. Arrow felt his heart sink to down below his paws. His sister Bullet rolled her eyes and moved ahead to catch up to the oblivious healer wolf leading the group.
