Bullet heard the howls of battle from the distance. Goldenglow turned around and flattened his ears in worry.
"That's SkullPack!" he woofed.
"What?!" Storm and Arrow looked up.
"Why are we leaving them with nothing?!" Silverwing shuddered. "My littermates are in there!"
"DarkPack is attacking." Goldenglow sniffed the air as rain fell on them.
"Why?!" Storm growled.
"They are the reason we're journeying up here." the golden healer wolf sighed. "An epidemic with them being the cause is starting, and the effect will be starvation from prey dying of the contamination, and packs growing weaker due to scarce prey and wolves dying off due to the disease. Prey piles will start to look meager.""My sister Timber!" Bullet's eyes were filled with worry.
"She has a lung issue!" Arrow added.
"I know that, but Katie is there."
"So? She's lost all her power temporarily. So the little knowledge she has won't make a difference since she can't put it into affect." Storm pointed out. Goldenglow narrowed his eyes, sighing.
"Is the prey over here contaminated yet?" Bullet questioned.
"Not yet, but we got to keep moving before it is. It's why I gave us the travel plants."
"We should start hunting." Silverwing barked. "Good to hunt the prey we can get our jaws on before it's all sick and we put ourselves in danger."
"Silverwing's right." Arrow woofed, and looked at Storm smartly, proud that he complimented the she-wolf before the other he-wolf.
"We also should prepare ourselves with training! We've made great progress with powers and magic, as well as basic skills!" Bullet raised her tail.
"I hope you all realize it's storming right now." Goldenglow woofed.
"So what?" Arrow faced the he-wolf. "It's good to get practicing in a storm done, who knows what could happen?"
"I'm a healer wolf, my experience doesn't depend on combat, leading, or hunting. It depends on knowing knowledge of plants, healing, and other remedies and healer wolf information." The golden he-wolf looked up again. "I only know some hunting skills."
"We can teach you." Storm barked.
"Come on." Silverwing added.
"I agree." Arrow reluctantly woofed after Storm's right words.
"Fine, you wolves better hunt first though. And come back after." Goldenglow's golden eyes glowed with worry at the dark clouded sky with rain, thunder, and lightning. At this, the four other wolves raced off into the undergrowth for the beginning of the scarce prey. The golden he-wolf took shelter lowly in a ditch in the forest floor, avoiding the lightning and rain.
Luke, Fawni, and Cameron made it to SkullPack's den-arena. Panting, Luke raced over to the ditch where Thunderblood and Bloodpetal's pups were. Thunderblood was beating Featherbreeze to the ground while Bloodpetal was trying to fight through the shield that was surrounding the pups. Luke pounced onto the gray she-wolf while he knocked Thunderblood off of his paws, Featherbreeze stood up and froze the blue he-wolf with her powers. More howls sounded as another patrol of FirePack wolves joined in, allying with SkullPack.
"FirePack?! How-" Raven gasped as she had pinned a gray he-wolf under her grip.
"I told them! Timber is with Misty because she nearly died!" Luke looked back to Bloodpetal, digging his claws into the she-wolf's head. Bloodpetal pushed him with her back paws and slid out from under him. His paws heated with electricity, red lightning flickering around them, and blasted them into Bloodpetal's stomach, creating holes with blood pouring out. The gray she-wolf shuddered and yelped, falling into a bush and not getting up. Luke watched her body fall in defeat breathlessly, and watched as Thunderblood slammed to the ground, eyes closed. Featherbreeze nodded to Luke, lashing her tail, turning to fight another DarkPack wolf. Luke stood guard for the pups.
Blackfrost was an introverted wolf, he barely spoke or socialized with wolves in his own pack. He was hiding in the shadows, examining the battle. The only time he spoke was when he was a younger pup, replying to his mother and father Raven and Snowy, and he spoke to his mentor Fenix at times as well. A heavy weight landed on him, and he gasped in surprised, turning his head and perking his ears, he noticed a DarkPack wolf.
"Nice hiding spot." the black wolf snickered menacingly. Blackfrost growled, and lay on his back, inserting frost into the wolf's flank out of his claw, it would stop circulation temporarily to give him advantages at attacking. He leapt out from under the black wolf, scraping his claws down the he-wolf and freezing him in place with a glacier. Blackfrost walked out of the shadows with ice under his pawsteps, forming every time he stepped somewhere. The black he-wolf he attacked gasped for air in the ice, struggling to free himself. Satisfaction came over Blackfrost like a wave. 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘗𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺? He watched as his mother's cousin Twinkle, as she noticed the black and white he-wolf from FirePack- Cameron. He heard about the tale- the two wolves and their forbidden love from two different packs. The news spread fast throughout all packs. 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥. 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘥, 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺. 𝘐 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘺.
"Cameron!" Twinkle woofed.
"Twinkle!" Cameron skipped over to the she-wolf, entwining his tail with hers happily.
"What are you doing?" Foxfur snarled. Cameron immediately broke the bond and looked at Twinkle with a wary gaze. Twinkle looked jealous and surprised, she was clearly unaware that Foxfur was one of the wolves on patrol to help SkullPack.
"Stop it!" Fawni growled to the three wolves while fighting a DarkPack wolf. Foxfur and Cameron broke off to fight for SkullPack. Twinkle's ears flattened and her tail drooped. Blackfrost turned away and jumped into the swarm of another patrol of DarkPack wolves floating from the dark sky. 𝘋𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴? Maggotface was one of the wolves who had arrived, fur was ripped from her neck with glistening blood dripping, her ears were nicked down to the core, her face was rotten and disturbing to view. It did look like maggots had infested her, but all wolves knew that she was one of the weakest DarkPack wolves who had failed miserably at her jobs, proven when Twinkle saved Bloodpetal and Thunderblood's pups and she was supposed to be guarding. It's why all of her wounds are fatal- from her torture sessions. She noticed Blackfrost viewing her through narrowed eyes.
"Oh you're new, I've never fought you in battle before. You must be one of Raven and Snowy's weaklings." Maggotface snickered, rasping then coughing. Blackfrost didn't need to socialize before fighting, he would take this she-wolf down between her old age with coughing- and her already destroyed shape. He launched himself, forcing his back paws to kick hard, and landed square onto the she-wolf. His ice crystals formed in a cloud above his head, then floated above Maggotface, starting to precipitate at a great force and acceleration. The she-wolf yelped in pain as it was freezing her, going through her fur and into her skin, and creating some blood to spill. Her teeth were bared, and her eyes were closed in pain. She immediately fled.
𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨. Blackfrost mused while laughing quietly to himself.
