Silverwing was waking up from her slumber in the makeshift nests the group of wolves had made in a small cave. Goldenglow had given her a few doses of chamomile to get her to sleep comfortably, away from any possible pain of the wounds.
Bullet stalked after a rabbit, keeping downwind so it wouldn't smell her, and treading lightly. She began breaking into a run, springing after the rabbit as it saw her last minute. Bullet yanked it back by its fluffy stumpy tail, giving it a killing bite as it screeched.
Thank you, HeavenPack, for this prey in the seasons of the dreadful disease. She collected her kills, and padded back to the temporary den. The canopy of the trees let some sun filter in, warming her pelt with the promise of more warming-season.
"Here, Silverwing." She tore a chunk of the rabbit's meat and slid it over to the silver she-wolf. Her green eyes glimmered with gratefulness, as she took her part of the rabbit. Bullet started digging into the rabbit, the delicious flavor sang on her tongue.
"Hey Silverwing," Arrow murmured as he picked up a scrawny squirrel, sliding between her and Storm. Storm's blue eyes glinted with anger, not understanding Arrow at all.
"Hey Arrow," the silver she-wolf rasped, flicking her tail in acknowledgment. Fire padded over, sinking down next to Bullet, and brushing pelts with her. Goldenglow had finished eating his piece of prey, and leaned forward to sniff Silverwing's wound.
"No infection," he murmured, relief showing in his eyes. "The wound is healing well."
"Thank HeavenPack," Storm sighed, love glowing in his gaze towards the silver she-wolf, her green eyes showed warmth of affection towards Storm.
"Tonight we shall rest," Goldenglow murmured to the group, after all of the wolves had eaten. "I've collected some moss and bracken while the few of you went off hunting, the sun is starting to set, so may as well start making nests now." He flicked his golden tail towards the pile of bedding.
Bullet had started lining a big nest with Fire, so they'd share it. She'd grown close to the fiery he-wolf, and she felt comforted by his presence. Meanwhile, Arrow's light gray eyes glinted with obvious jealousy, as Silverwing and Storm were lining nests side by side.
"What are you doing?" Arrow demanded, his black and white fur reflecting the sunset's glow, as he padded forward towards Storm. The white he-wolf glared back, annoyed.
Why are he-wolves so stupid? Bullet didn't like being associated with her littermate's nasty attitude, but Arrow was being ridiculous now. "Quit it, I want to sleep tonight, not hear your stupid snarling."
Her brother flashed her a look of embarrassment, which quickly replaced with red frustration burning in the depths of the light gray eyes. "I seriously never get to spend time with Silverwing! Can't you see that, Bullet?! Storm is clinging onto her like a tick does to a lazy elder!"
"You don't have to be such a bear-heart about it," she snarled back, lashing her tail. Her pelt stopped prickling, and flattened, as she forced her voice to stay gentle. "Silverwing, how about you make your nest next to mine tonight?"
"Oh, that sounds lovely." Silverwing slightly limped over with her share of bedding, starting to line it next to Bullet's side of her and Fire's nest, as Bullet intervened to help her.
Fire blinked at Bullet, his eyes showing happiness and affection towards her. She returned it, as Silverwing thanked Bullet and settled down into her nest.
"Maybe we should start calling you Mediator Bullet," the white he-wolf joked, his reddish-orange tufts of his fur smooth and delicate as he had cleaned it before settling down. "You fixed that so fast."
