I walked back with Louis to the bus. We were about to go in but Louis stopped me before I had the chance.
"Are you sure you want to go through with this?" He asked sounding like he didn't want me to leave.
"I have to Louis, I'm sorry" I whispered the last part.
"okay maddie, let's go pack your stuff" he frowned at my words.
I walked up the steps and into the bus. Niall shot up from where he was sitting and and ran towards me.
"Maddie, oh my gosh, there you are" he said hugging me. Way too much attention...
"Louis will you tell them please" I asked knowing that I wouldn't be able to say it to their faces. He nodded and explained that I had to go and that it was for the best. I just sat there in silence looking at nothing but the floor. Everyone was listening to Louis, including Ellie and Max. This is so awkward. When Louis had finally finished they all just sat there in silence, shocked.
"I'm sorry" I whispered and then ran off to pack my things and because I hadn't unpacked anything this made my job a whole lot easier. I took all my toiletries out of the bathroom and put them in my suitcase. I then picked up the odd pairs of shoes and my phone charger. Once I was certain I had everything I zipped up my suitcase, grabbed my travel bags and went out of the room.
As I came out all eyes landed on me so I smiled awkwardly.
"We're going to miss you Maddie" Liam said sadly.
"I'm going to miss you all to, I'll come visit maybe...that's if you still want to see me" I said.
"Of course Mads, we all love you and don't really want to see you go" Niall said edgings closer.
"I have to" I said. I don't want to but I know things will get worse if I stay here and I can't risk anyone finding out about my past so it's best if I leave now.
"Your always welcome here" Louis said. Wait is he crying? No surely not. My eyes must be playing tricks on me.
"Thank you" I said wiping my eyes as I had started crying again...
"Time to go" I said sadly looking at every single one of them.
Before I left I hugged all the boys (and Ellie) and said my goodbyes. I think it hit Louis the hardest because we were pretty close but then there was Niall. I went over to him.
"I'm so sorry Niall for causing you all this trouble, once I'm gone you won't have to worry about me anymore. Just pretend you never met me, it's easy. I love you so much, okay? I'll see you soon. Bye" I said and engulfed him in a huge hug.
"I can't erase you from my life Maddie, I've only just met you. I love you too Maddie. bye" he said into my hair. After a while I let go of him and grabbed my suitcase. Niall have me some money to get back to my old house before I left.
"Thank you for putting up with me, bye" I said waving at my friends. I turned around and walked out and now I know that's there's no going back.
The taxi that was going to take me home was already here so I told the driver where to go and got in the back seat.
For the majority of the car journey I just stared out the window. It was so peaceful, away from all the drama. I want to escape this world but I don't want to leave Louis. I think I may have feelings for him but he can't ever find out. No one would ever like me. Never ever.
When I finally reached home I got out, paid the driver and got my suitcase and bags and then walked up to the door. I knocked on it with my heart in my throat. My mum answered and was shocked to see me standing there.
"Maddie?" she asked.
"mum" I replied and then burst into tears. She came and hugged me tight whilst my dad brought my stuff in for me. I don't care if they didn't give birth to me, I still grew up with them as my parent figures so they will always be my parents to me.
"Why don't we go inside and talk about this" She said soothingly. I nodded and wiped my eyes. She led me into the living room and sat me down on the sofa.
"So, what happened?" she asked. I told everything to do with ashton and she completely understood. She told me that this is all just part of growing up and that maybe I only wanted to come back because I was a little homesick. She literally knows how to change my day from being rubbish to not too bad.
"What do I do now then?" I asked.
"I recommend you stay here for a while, maybe even get a job before you start rushing off again. I don't want to see you getting hurt again Maddie. You know what ashton can be like so it's probably best if you keep your distance for a while" She smiled.
You know that saying 'mums know best', yeah? well it's 100% true.
