White lips, pale face.
That's all I could describe the way he looked last time I saw him, which was indeed 2 days ago. Once the boys had found out about the accident, Louis rushed to Ireland to make sure I was safe.
I wasn't allowed to see Niall, I wasn't allowed to see my own brother! How bad is that..
He was in a critical state and wasn't well enough for any visitors. I tried calling the hospital again and again, but they wouldn't tell me nothing "it's patient confidentiality". I cried for hours on end at night as I relived the horrific memory of that rainy day.
My entire body shook as headlights passed the window.
Currently I am rocking backwards and forwards in a ball shape on my bed trying to shake the memories off. I should've made him stay by my side, it's all my fault. Tears streamed down my face. Why couldn't it be me in Niall's position? It's not fair on him. He had a life, he had something to look forward to everyday, but I don't.I felt warm arms wrap around my body as they steadied me. I began to stop shaking as hard and stopped crying.
"I love you Maddie" Louis kissed my forehead.
"I love you too" I said.
"He'll be okay" He whispered into my ear, stroking my hair softly.
"I hope so" I whimpered holding back tears.
I lay in Louis' arms for a further 10 minutes, but it had to stop when the phone went off.
"I'll get it" He squeezed my hand and went to answer the phone.
Please, please, please be the hospital.
I sat there biting my nails anxiously until Louis came back holding my coat and his too. I gave him a questioning look.
"We can go see Niall" He smiled. I scrambled off my bed and slipped on my coat and shoes.
"Leggo!" I exclaimed as I ran into the car.
~~~
That was the longest car journey in the world.
Once we had arrived at the hospital, I practically ran to the front desk asking where Niall was being treated. She told me and Louis and room number and after taking the lift 3 times and getting lost down long corridors, we finally found his room.
There was a doctor standing outside his door. He sighed as he saw me and Louis coming.
"Can we see him?" I asked as we finally reached his door.
"Yes, but there's something you should know before you go in" The doctor said pushing his glasses back onto the bridge if his nose.
"Go on" I coughed.
"You see" He started "Niall was hit by a car going at roughly 50mph and that's a lot considering he was just walking along the street" He said, I nodded. JUST GET ON WITH IT GOSH.
"When the car hit him, it had such an impact that he flew and hit his head on the hard concrete floor" he pursed his lips "So I'm going to get straight to the point now, Niall suffered from minor brain damage and it's likely that he won't remember little things " He finished.
My heart shattered. Tears began to fall from my eyes and Louis put his arm around my shoulder.
"However, there is good news" The doctor beamed.
"Whats that?" Louis spoke for me.
"Niall is conscious, but that's all I can say for now" He sighed and tapped his pen on his clipboard.
"Thank you" I mumbled.
"Hey Louis?" my voice was barely a whisper.
"Yes?" He scratched his forehead.
"Can I have a moment alone with Niall?" I asked.
"Of course, I'll be waiting out here" He patted the waiting area chair and sat down.
"Thank you" I smiled and pulled down the handle on the door. I took one big breath and walked in. The doctor was right, he was awake.
"Hey Nialler" I said sweetly. He didn't reply. I took things into my own hands and sat down on the chair that was placed next to his bed. His eyes followed me the whole time. His face was still pale but you could now see the bruises and cuts the accident had scarred him with. A tear fell down my cheek and I quickly wiped it away.
"Hey" I repeated, my throat was tight.
His face scrunched up and he looked incredibly confused. You could literally see his brain trying to figure out what was going on. I wanted to reach out for him, tell him everything's going to be okay, but I can't you see because I know that things could go wrong and he could come out worse then he is now. His face finally settled and he rubbed his forehead.
"Who are you?" The words poured out of his mouth and I lost it.
