Jill's POV

That night was impossible for me to fall asleep. I mean yeah, things went down pretty good at the game and yeah, I had fun with my brother at dinner... but too many things were in my head for me to simply go to bed. I had to do something to entertain myself until the slumber fairy visits me.

It was absolutely forbidden for me to use my phone past bedtime, because Steve says that the bright screen keeps me up and ruins my sight, but there was no way for him to find out. I'd usually do it every now and then, after I made sure he was asleep and wouldn't come downstairs to check on me. Twitter and instagram kept me busy for a while, watching makeup videos and cheerleader training tips, but after an hour or so I grew bored. I went through some of my texts and stared at one I hadn't dared to open yet. It was from Fred.

Finally I gathered enough guts to just tap on it and see what it was about.

From: Fred

Great game tonight. First time I ever enjoyed a football game

I rolled my eyes at my phone. This guy never simply offered a compliment without some irony to hide it. I knew he had been there because I had gotten to read the first part of the text when it came in, but now that I had actually read it I had to come up with some sort of answer.

From: Jill

Thks. Didn't see u there though

I pressed sent and was willing to just roll back to my bed and ignore my phone, but the annoying buzz sound from it kept waking me up. Mostly just twitter notifications but among them I found another text from Fred. My heart race slightly because I wasn't counting with him being awake by now, let alone reply back to me.

From: Fred

'm a regular. I go to check out cheerleaders

I rolled my eyes incredulously, thinking about what he had said to find it was probably true. I certainly could think about one cheerleader he was more than interested in.

From: Jill

You mean stalk... found anything u liked?

I tapped on 'send' furiously and waited impatiently for him to text back. I was actually thinking about Jennifer but my own comment backfired two seconds later.

From: Fred

Indeed. Red is your color Boston

It only infuriated me more when my cheeks blushed with his comment. I had no way to reply to that without looking stupid! I certainly couldn't care less what he thought, so why was my body betraying me? Willing to put an end to this conversation I started typing a message when another text popped in my screen.

From: Fred

Look for me tomorrow. I have a surprise

I raised my eyebrows at this. A surprise? Was it good or was it bad? You never really knew with Fred. In order to get rid of my anxiety I scrolled through twitter a bit more before I checked the clock. I groaned in annoyance to see I had stayed awake like 3 hours past my bedtime so I put my phone again willing to just fall asleep once and for all, but obviously with no avail.

Next morning went as bad as anyone could expect. Steven had to shout at me three times and even threaten me to get my butt out of bed. I looked at my face in the mirror and it screamed 'bad night of sleep', so I took my concealer and tried to make the best out of it. Of course just because I had covered the big bags under my eyes, it didn't mean they weren't still there.
