Right after I left Jill at school for her practice I checked the time. 4 pm precisely. I had about 5 hours to come back for her, since it was likely the game would end around that time. We were currently working on a case of a bunch of thieves that somehow had graduated to kidnapping a congressman, but first I needed to make a quick stop on my way to the central.

I didn't have to wait more than a minute parked in the middle of a dark ally when my passenger seat opened. I didn't startle, I knew who I was expecting. I didn't even bother meeting my eyes with him, I just wanted him to talk. That's what I was there for.

"Steve I don't know why you called me. I don't know anything about a congressman" the man sitting right by side was quick to say while he eyed nervously all his surroundings.

"It's Commander McGarrett to you, and I didn't call you for that. You know it" I said while resting my hands on the wheel of my car.

"This guy you want to catch... he's dangerous and practically a ghost! I don't know what you want me to do" he spoke to me with much more respect but with a desperate edge in his voice. He was about to chicken out.

"To be my eyes and ears on the streets. I know he's linked deeply with the Yakuza. Find out as much as you can and maybe, just maybe, I'll grant you a reunion with your family" I offered him the only choice he'd have in the matter. Since he was out on parole he wasn't allowed any contact with his family. It could take him back to jail, but if I meddled a bit into it... who knows.

"You can't promise that" he spat out incredulously and with a deep breath I pulsed the button down to lock the doors.

As the pathetic ex criminal by my side jumped in his seat, I turned my head only the necessary amount to look at him dead in the eye. I was fucking serious.

"Try me. Now get me what I asked you" I said before releasing the button so the doors could be open. Barely I heard the famous 'click' of the locks, my informant had flown out of my car. Good because I had a lot to do and I couldn't be late tonight.

When I was on my way to the central, an income call from Danny alerted me something wasn't right. As I answered the phone I was met with the desperate irritating tone of voice of my partner freaking out, saying Chin hadn't reported since this morning. I had sent him to find out what kind of robbery the guys we were after were into and apparently somehow he was simply out of reach. I twisted my lips knowing that was never a good sign, so I told Danny to meet me in the last point we had seen Chin.

That said location turned out to be the congressman's country house outside the city. Two of our cases were obviously linked, and somehow Chin was in between. While being in the house we heard a noise and I prayed it'd be Chin but it wasn't. Another robber looked at us, frightened like a child getting caught with his hands in the jar of cookies. As he sprinted away so did I, following him across the huge green field. When I had the chance I tackled him and held him down, demanding to know what the hell was he doing there.

At first the suspect showed himself not cooperative enough, so I decided to take further measures. I grabbed him by the neck and dragged him to a beautiful deck that belonged to the house... right above a cliff. That'd be an ugly fall.

"Wow, wow, WOW" Danny started screaming as I held the criminal upside down. "We do not hang people from balconies! Let's just take him back to the central"

"No time. Are you going to talk? Because I feel more tired by the second" I said loosening my grip just slightly to give him a good scare.

"Alright, alright! Please let me up and I'll tell you"

"Spill out and I might just let you back up"

Apparently he had an associate to break into nice houses and steal from money to jewells and arts. Anything they can sell on the black market. But apparently his partner was missing ever since the robbery to the congressman's house. Well he wasn't missing anymore. Lori didn't delay a minute to confirm the body we had found in the house was this guy's associate. We could only assume this guy had seen or heard too much during the robbery. I just prayed the same thing hadn't happened to Chin. I was running out of time in many different ways.
