Jill's POV

I must say, the only thing I hated about finally feeling better was to go back to school. I had enjoyed the most of these days off that horrible institution, and classes, and boring teachers and homework... well not that really. Sally would send me our assignments everyday and my brother sure as hell made sure I did them. On that part, life hadn't really changed.

Even so, I knew this worried phase would pass by quick enough. There simply weren't so many hours in a day for Steve to worry about me (or control me, more likely) and keep safe the island of Hawaii. He still always kept an eye on me somehow, wether by his girlfriend Cath or by Kono now. Either of them I liked a lot, and often I got away with doing lots of stuff that wouldn't go with my strict brother, like bedtime, time with my phone or with the tv, doing my homework a little later than I should. They just cut me some slack because they knew just how much I needed it.

The bright side of being back to school, is that I was finally able to go back to cheerleading practice, even when I had chills down my back when I stepped a foot back inside that gym where everything had gone to hell. I could even hear those horrible words Jennifer had said on my back, but I did my best not to focus on them.

A very happy to see me in one piece Megan made her way towards me and instantly pulled me in a hug barely I was under her reach. I chuckled a bit to her antics, also feeling safe in her embrace. She was like the older sister I had always wanted to have.

"Good to see you babe. Are you sure you can do this?" she asked worryingly but I threw her a reassuring smirk. I was dying to do this.

"Absolutely" I confirmed leaving no space for doubts. I was back.

"Ok. No offense, but I'm gonna move you to a less hot spot for the moment. Just until we're sure you're alright, ok? I promised your brother I'd look after you" she explained the reason behind her decision and I couldn't help but to grumble on the inside.

However I didn't let my friend know my true feelings about this whole thing, since I felt like I owed her at least that. As leader of the group, she could have gotten in trouble for my stunt. "Yes. He has as many eyes and ears as he can. Don't worry about it, as long as I get to be there Friday night" I reassured her I was fine with someone else taking my spot, even when I was quite sure of who that person would be.

"You bet. I wouldn't dare to go without my star" she dismissed me before instructing the entire team to get on their feet.

Practice went by smoothly, even when it had been a while and I had to take it easy. I found that was I quick in recovering, which eased my soul quite a bit, because it meant I'd be back in my spot in no time, as long as my brother doesn't poke his nose into my business.

Once we were done, Megan kept me company as we walked through the hallways to our next class. Fortunately for the both of us, we had enough time to take a good shower and change into clean clothes. God bless you free period before Math. That and fruit smoothies.

"I just got so scared" Megan admitted as I took a sip of my full protein smoothie.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what happened to me" I tried to avoid the source of my problem, since I didn't want to hurt my friend any further with the truth.

"It's alright. It can be a lot of pressure. I'm just glad you're ok" she said before placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder, and I smiled at the small gesture. Sometimes it was good to know someone really has your back.

When we turned around the corner, I realized we were in Fred's territory right now, and that he's usually lazing around in his locker, deciding whether to show up or not to class. I told Megan I'd see her later and walked right to my friends locker. I hadn't seen him in a while, and I was just curious if he had missed me during all these days.
