Steve's POV

The clock ticked too slowly for my taste while my sister was out with that guy, on top of it after being rude to me. A talk with Danny had done little to soothe my anger, so he resolved leaving me alone for the moment.

"Where are you staying?" I asked when I saw he was willing to leave.

"A small apartment I just found. It's not much, and once the divorce is done I'll have to find something better so they'll let Grace visit me" he explained with the most tired voice I had ever heard from him. To the perspective of anything jeopardizing his relationship with his little girl he'd always get like that.

"You can come here whenever you want. Door's open" I offered as kindly as I could in that moment.

"I will when you're in a better mood. See ya neantherthal" he said and closed the door too quickly for him to notice my eyes blatantly rolling to his attitude. It was enough with one witty teenager.

Speak of the devil, it was almost 7. With one deep breath I picked myself up from the couch and went to fetch my car keys. I had texted her like half hour ago to ask her where she was but she refused to reply. It didn't make much of a difference, since I easily tracked down her location with the gps signal of her phone. I grabbed my car keys angrily at the same time I texted her, telling her I knew where she was and I was coming to get her already. My fingers were grasped tightly around the wheel of my car as I rushed my way to get my sister. That Fred guy better not be there by the time I'm there, so help me God I'll give her an earful about her attitude right in front of him.

Much to my displeasure though, when I came by it was only her, waiting impatiently by the curb with her arms folded on her chest. I couldn't for the love of God figure out why she was mad at me, but if this was a contest she knew I'd win in the end. I parked by her side and unlocked the back door. When she went to get in and realized she had to get in the back, her frown only got even deeper. She should know by now that if she acts like a child, I'll treat her like that. And if she acts like a spoiled child...

"Took you long enough" she grumbled under her breath, perhaps thinking I wouldn't catch on what she said. How mistaken.

"Oh I'm sorry. I was still recovering from the killer look you threw me before you left" I backfired her irony as I tried to keep myself patient. Nothing good would come out if we started to shout in the car.

"You had no right to treat him like that" she spat at me, obviously not being able to hold her frustration anymore.

"I did what I had to do as your older brother. I don't like that guy and I don't think you'll be seeing him any further. Period" I said keeping the conversation short, thinking maybe that way my sister would come around and finally realize all I do with my day is protecting her.

"You can't tell me who to date!" she kept up her screeching making me cringe. Also my heart honestly ached when she said the world 'date'.

"Period" I insisted firmly and turning back to the road. We were on a traffic light and I was waiting impatiently for it to turn green. She was a bomb ready to explode anytime, and I'd much rather it to do it at home, where we have privacy.

"It's not fair!" she burst into flames as predicted. I swear it is exactly like watching a buckled up toddler having a tantrum.

"You and I are having a talk later" I said firmly over my shoulder to the furious girl back there. She twisted her lips to the side, as if she was holding something inside but decided against it. Good.

I nodded my head firmly mostly to myself before I returned my look to the road.

"Fuck you" her unmistakable voice rang in my ears after a second.
