Jill's POV

Seriously, who wakes up his sister with a smack on the bum after having given her a hard spanking a day ago? Only Steven McGarrett. So yeah I was a bit late for school, but nobody was going to miss me! I had no choice but to get up, barely grab something to eat and run out where Cody was waiting for me like every morning. It was sweet of him to drive me and everything, but sincerely I couldn't wait to get my own car. Having someone waiting for you was getting a bit old.

Of course I left all the details about me and Sally going to that party out of my short conversation with Cody. She was right, they could get into overprotective asshole mode so I did prefer not to start my day with that. It was hard enough with one overprotective brother.

That afternoon I had my first official practice as a cheerleader in my school, and I had to be ready for the big game on Saturday. I had already memorized all the cheers and moves but I still needed to get to know the team and for them to know me. Though there was one I knew pretty well, and it was not Megan.

"Relax, just don't pay attention to her" Sally advised me wisely while we were in the line of lunch. We were eating with the group minues Zeth, who was in a corner with his redheaded girlfriend and Fred, who was alone somewhere. A thought crossed my mind and I twitched my lips at it, thinking if it was a good idea to let it out.

"Hey Sally. The other night, what did you mean when you said they're not worth my time?" I decided against my brain's will who told me it was better not to know. Well he was right, if Sally's sigh was anything to go by.

"All I'm saying is that I've seen this show before. Look I know you hate her right now, and trust me I don't have good feelings for her either, but Jennifer got caught in the middle of their competition and they drove her nuts" she explained to me the reason she didn't want me to get involved with either Zeth or Fred and left me there frozen in my spot.

"I thought she was the one playing them" I said and Sally giggled at my confusion.

"That's what boys always say, but the truth is Fred and Zeth can't stop competing with each other. If you're a smart girl, you'll stay away. From both of them" she pointed out while raising her eyebrows to me, as if warning me not to ignore her advice.

I had always known the story about Fred, Zeth and Jennifer wasn't complete when they first told me about it, but I never had imagined it was due to the fact the fault was on them. I should have seen it coming: boys. All they want is having us girls fighting over them. Now that didn't make me like Jennifer any more than I did, but at least I didn't feel I needed to do the effort to win Zeth back. If this is how we wanted things, then that's the way they'd stay. And Fred... I didn't even know how he wanted things to be.

Barely we got out of class I ran away from Sally and straight to the toilets. The teacher had refused to let me go during class so I had to wait a painful hour before I could release the gallon of water I was holding in. I wasn't eating much lately, therefore I drank more water than usual to feel full. I had read about it somewhere in the internet and it had seemed like a pretty good idea. Water is very healthy, right?

Once I released my overhydration and I fixed my hair a bit I walked out of the bathroom to head to my next class. I had spotted Fred from the other side of the hallway, but I thought I should just do what Sally had strongly advised me to. Keep walking.

"Hey Boston" he called for me and I cringed, hoping to go by him unseen. Keep walking!

"Hey, I didn't see you there" I said with my back still on him as he caught up with me easily. He had really long legs.

"You still haven't seen me. Is it weirdo's day?" he pointed out the fact I hadn't made eye contact with him even when we were chatting and walking together through the hallway.

"Sorry, I'm in a hurry. Maths" I said wiggling my book as proof of my weird behavior.

"I can still help you. You don't have to put up with that asshole Kai" he offered not so gently making me grind my teeth. I hated that he was always trying to attack Kai. If I didn't know him any better I'd say he was jealous.

"Uh. I happen to like hanging out with him" I pointed out hoping to bother him but I didn't get him in the slightest, which only upset me further.

"But not with me?" he asked all of the sudden, making me twist my lips uncomfortably.

"I didn't say that" I replied quickly without thinking. Did I? When he wasn't being a jerk I did. He was actually even nice.

"Then let's do something. School is getting old anyways" Fred proposed in a casual cool way only him could pull off. It was actually tempting, but at the same time I knew there was a big rock between me and that plan. Steven.

"Ummm. Actually I'm kind of walking on thin ice with my brother" I said trying not to emphasize the fact that my brother could tell me what to do. It made me feel like a little girl, especially when I was next to a guy who wouldn't listen not even the president.

"Well. Then let me know when he lets loose the leash" he winked at my indignant 'hey' before disappearing with a smile through the crowd.

Ugh who does he think he is? As if I'd beg for my brother to let me go out again just to hang out with him. It wasn't in the slightest on my plans.

Yet at least.
