*1 week later in Los Angeles*

"ahh feels so good to finally be all moved in. I think i like this apartment more than our last one" maya says laughing.

"yeah, honestly I like this one a lot more than the last one too. It's bigger in here and more open" i say back.

"when do your classes start? i start tomorrow" maya asks me while putting her laptop in her backpack.

"I think i start tomorrow too actually, i have my schedule somewhere around here" i say looking around for the paper.

"d-do you think we will be safe here?" maya asks me

I look up at her, and i walk over and hug her.

"maya, everything's gonna be okay there's nothing to worry about here. It's a fresh start for the both of us." i say reassuring her.

-Recap-

Maya was in an abusive relationship about 3 months ago. She ended it with him after she had, had enough of his crap. Any little thing she did, like going out, or having any friends really, would get her into trouble with him. He just wanted her all to himself, and when she tried to explain to him she wanted to be able to go out with her girlfriends and spend time with her friends he would get really mad and would hit her or talk to her as if she was nothing.

When they broke up, he told her that he wasn't done with her. That he would find her because she was always going to be his no matter what. We both agreed that it was best to move away for a while, start over and make new friends and just have fun in life. So a month later we had everything transferred over to UCLA and we got an apartment here that's not too far from campus. Maya helped me through my darkest times in life, and I was sure as hell going to do the same for her even if that means me leaving home for a while.

"how about we order pizza for dinner tonight, yeah?" i ask her smiling.

"mmmm yeah that sounds really good, i'm not up for cooking tonight" maya laughs and she goes and plops onto the couch turning on the TV.

*the next morning*

"i made some iced coffee this morning if you want some! i'm ready to head out if you are. So we can go and find our classes" I say to maya as I fill my cup with coffee and put a snack in my bag.

"oh yes of course, you know I loved iced coffee. And i'm ready to go" she answers.

We grab our things and walk out to the car and head towards the college. Maya hooks up her phone to the AUX and starts playing style by taylor swift.

"nice choice" I say to her while looking at the window.

*a few hours later*

maya and I pull up into our apartment parking lot and head inside.

"hey so in class today I made a friend, her names jules. She had gotten invited to a party by one of her close friends sierra. And sierra told her it was okay if she could invite some more people so she told me that we could go!! i think it would be nice to get out and go to a party and meet some new people stel!" maya says to me with the biggest smile on her face

"hm, sounds good. When is it? And where is it at?" i ask

"uh, it's a big house party and apparently there's going to be other celebrities there. But the sierra that invited her is sierra deaton. The singer, you used to listen to her all the time-" i cut maya off

"HER??? okay we're going for sure, i would like to meet her she seems so nice!! she's so pretty too, she just looks like a sweetheart." i say back smiling

"okay well it's this weekend, it's already thursday so tomorrow we can go shop for dresses or just a cute outfit to wear to the party. She just said it was going to be a big house party" maya says going to her room.

I sit on the couch and smile to myself, Ive never been the type to go out and go to parties and just do things most people my age do. I'm 22 years old, but i don't really go out to bars and drink and go to a bunch of parties. I'm just the type of girl that stays home, reads, naps, watches movies and just eats all day. This was totally new to me, it's exciting to do something different.
