new beginnings.

"okay i'm all packed up and ready to go!! how are you coming along with the packing?" my best friend maya asks me.

Maya and I have been best friends since we were in elementary school. We met because i was getting bullied at the time and maya stood up for me, and beat up the girl who bullied me. We became friends right after it happened

Maya and I are currently moving out of our apartment here in Texas to move to our new one in LA. We both decided to transfer to UCLA in the fall for nursing.

"yeah i'm just packing the last of my clothes into this huge suitcase!!" I laugh looking up at her, she's leaning into the doorway looking down at me with an expression I can't read.

"hey is everything okay maya? what's up?" I say zipping up my suitcase.

"nothing, i'm just...nervous? it's going to be a big change moving from Texas to LA. It's a whole new atmosphere. But i'm just happy that i have my best friend coming along with me at least i'll know someone." she says smiling back at me.

*The next morning*

"okay i think everything's packed and we're good to go for sure." I say to maya, looking around our living room making sure everything were taking is there.

"okay, well let's start loading the stuff in the car and we will take off. We have a really long drive ahead of us stel." she smiles and sighs at the same time

maya and i start packing our suitcases into the back of our car and we go over our checklist again to make sure we have everything.

"okay we should be all set, when is everyone getting here so we can say our goodbyes?" I ask maya, but my question is answered by my dad who is behind me.

"well, we're already here to say goodbye to you guys." he chuckles and i turn around and smile at him.

"i'm gonna miss you dad, and you too mom!!" i say hugging both my parents.

my mother was already close to tears when she hugged me, maya went to hug my parents next and she bursted out crying realizing we were actually leaving Texas.

My boyfriend isaac walks into my apartment and i couldn't look at him. I've been dreading this moment for the past 2 months because i never knew how to say goodbye to someone i've been with for 4 years already.

"hey beautiful, leaving already?" he says to me while he pulls me into a tight hug and rests his chin on my head.

"yeah...we just finished packing all the things into the car. And we're having our furniture shipped to our new apartment in LA, it should all be there sometime next week." i say with tears in my eyes.

"you're going to be okay up there, i know you plan on coming back after you finish school so it's okay!! just have fun and enjoy what's around you up there babe. It's always good to get out and be adventurous in life. Don't be sad, at least you have maya going with you!! And your parents and i can come and visit you guys too." he says smiling and he hugs me a little bit tighter.

"i know, i love you so much isaac. I'm so lucky to have you in my life you know that?" i say finally looking up at him and kissing him.

And with all that, we said our final goodbyes to everyone. Maya and I got in our car and waved goodbye to them when we pulled out of the parking lot of the apartments and we were off.

here's to new beginnings.
