Chara

It felt strange, not being able to leave Undyne's lab. But she was such a kind hostess and Chara actually enjoyed being there. She was given healing medicine multiple times a day and she was starting to recover. The leftover simmering pain from the serum Liz's assistant had given her was the first thing to go away completely. Chara was grateful for that because there was no way she could stand that any longer. The next thing to heal were the cuts on her wrist, which had been caused when she had been insane by pain and tried biting her hands off to escape. Then her black eye healed, along with her concussion. The recovery happened in the course of three weeks, leaving her only with broken ribs. Undyne had given her a brace to put on her ribs. Then one day she walked into the room with a pleasant smile on her face.

"I h-have good news!" Undyne stammered happily. "Y-you are free to go home now! Just keep the brace on and you should be fine! See me once a week. Just in case!"

These words cheered Chara up. She sat up and hugged Undyne with a happy smile. "You took such good care of me! Thank you so much."

"Of course!" Undyne said, returning her smile. "W-what are friends for?"

Chara had returned home to a very enthusiastic greeting from Sans. They had talked for nearly an hour before she realized she hadn't seen Papyrus since her return.

Sans

"Hey, Sans?" Chara asked after nearly an hour of them talking on the living room couch.

"Yeah?" Sans responded.

"Where's Paps?" She looked around as if she expected him to be there. "I haven't seen him at all since I've been back."

Sans rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Now that you've mentioned it, I don't think he's left the room today." He stood up and put his hands on his hips. "Hmph! My brother has been so lazy lately! He's been doing this all week, rarely leaving his room."

Chara's eyes widened. "Is he okay?" She asked with concern in her gentle tone.

Sans winced and looked away, heaving a sigh. "I'm...not sure." He admitted. He hadn't thought of his brother much, he realized guiltily. He hadn't even bothered to make sure Papyrus wasn't ill.

"I'll go check on him." Sans said, cheerful again. "If my brother is sick I'll take care of him! Wait right here!" He ran up the stairs and knocked on his brother's bedroom door.

A muffled groan came from in the room. "Please leave me be."

Sans barely recognized the strange pain filled voice as his brother's. Rarely did his brother show such emotion. "Are you...are you okay, brother?" Sans asked. Guiltily he realized that he shouldn't asked that question days ago. He was only asking because Chara had mentioned it.

"Just a bit sick." Papyrus said from the other side of the door. "If I need you, I'll tell you."

Chara

Chara perked up when Sans walked back downstairs.

"How's Papyrus?" She asked as he plopped himself on the couch beside her.

"He says he's a bit sick." Sans told her. "But he'll ask if he needs anything from us."

Chara sighed and nodded, but she suspected sickness wasn't the only reason he kept himself locked up.

Chara and Sans decided to go for a nice walk in Snowdin. It would've been romantic if not for the fact every monster who was outside wanted to see how Chara was faring. They all knew about her injuries, as word spread fast in such a town, so they were all extremely curious. It was flattering to see how happy everyone was to see her back.

But nobody was as important to her as Sans. He was the one she was most happy to see.

"Hey Sans?" She asked after a few monsters who had just talked to them walked away.

"What is it?" Sans asked, his blue eyes rounded with curiosity.

"What did you do while I was away?" She asked, gripping his gloved hand and holding it.

He blushed and giggled. "I...I patrolled of course! And made sure everything was ready for you when you came home!"

Chara pulled Sans closer to him. "That's so romantic." She said. "Thanks, Sansy. You're the best skeleton ever!"

The house was quiet when Chara and Sans entered. Chara knew that Papyrus was still asleep. She promised herself to check in on him the next day.

Sans

Sans knew it was pretty much an ingrained part of his relationship with Chara to share his room with her, so he had made her an extra comfortable place to sleep on. She had protested that she wanted to share his bed with him but he had refused, explaining that he wanted to wait until she was better to allow her to share his bed so that he'd avoid hurting her. Although he blushed at the thought of sharing it with her and had to force himself to say no.

"Was Undyne a good host?" Sans asked as he settled into his own bed after making sure Chara was lying comfortably.

"She was awesome!" Chara replied cheerily. "She spent a lot of time making sure I was comfortable and happy. I'd rather spend time in her lab than any hospital!"

Sans was glad to hear that. But then another, almost childishly jealous thought crossed his mind. "Was...she better than me?"

Chara let out a giggle. "Of course not! Nobody can be better than you!" There was a pause, then she added softly. "At anything."

Sans felt warm from skull to toes. He knew his face was blue with his blush and he was happy the lights were off. But he kept his cool as he replied. "T-the Magnificent Sans tries his best to be the best!"
