Chara

After Sans had come home and talked to Chara and Papyrus, everyone had decided it was time for bed. Chara and Sans went to sleep in Sans's room, leaving Papyrus to snore away in his own room. Chara lay in her bed on the floor while Sans lay on his own bed. It was so comfortable, being back in the room with Sans for a second night in a row. Chara was so thankful her friends had saved her from death. But there was one thing they didn't know about her: she could cheat death. If things got too bad and she knew she'd die, she could reset everything. But she'd never do that. It would reset the lives of her friends and everyone around them. She couldn't bear to live with that. They would remember nothing of recent memories, but she would. She'd rather have died than have Sans to forget any single day with her. Every moment they spent together was special and unique.

Now, as she lay on her bed, Chara thought about the discussion she'd had with Papyrus. They'd talked about love, and how he had thought Liz was the right one for her. They'd discussed how she hadn't ever really been quite sane, although he'd had never thought she'd go as far as to hurt those he loved.

"I...I guess I miss her. But it doesn't matter, really. She chose her own fate." Papyrus had said. "She wouldn't have wanted to die any other way."

Sans

The sound of Chara breathing was so relaxing to Sans. He could tell she wasn't asleep though. Her breathing was too controlled for her to be sleeping. He was so glad she was back home. He'd missed her so much when she had been gone. Too much. When she wasn't there he felt uncomfortable, as though he was missing a part of himself. He needed her friendship and affection. I can't believe anyone would ever want to harm her... heck, I can't believe I ever wanted to capture her and bring her to Toriel! He shuddered at the thought that he'd once wanted to pawn her off to the queen. Luckily once Toriel had found out that there was a human living peacefully with monsters, she'd come to visit herself and realized that there was nothing wrong. Chara belonged there. Nobody could say otherwise. She was now an important part of Snowdin. Everyone really liked her.

A sudden loud bang on the front door startled Sans. He jumped to his feet and clenched his bony hands into fists. Chara let out a startled noise and sat up. Sans jumped over him and flipped the switch on with one swift movement.

"What was that?!" Sans exclaimed. He had gone to bed still wearing his battle outfit, so he felt strong. "I'll check it out!" He was worried because he remembered the time he'd gotten the threatening letter. He decided to be cautious, creeping downstairs as silently as he could.

Chara

Chara was admittedly frightened by the loud noise. Beads of swear we're forming on her forehead as she watched her skeleton lover leave the room. She pulled the blanket over her head and curled up underneath it. Anxiety made her heart beat fast in her chest, even as she tried to think happy thoughts.

Maybe it's... Chara couldn't think of anything that could possibly make such a sound. Nothing that didn't mean harm, anyway.

The sound of Sans letting out a battle cry made her gasp in terror. She threw the covers off her and jumped out of bed.

"Sans?!" Chara cried, darting out of the room and rushing downstairs. She tripped and fell down the stairs, letting out a pained cry as she did so.

"You okay?" A voice asked. She looked up and saw that Papyrus had somehow silently materialized beside her. He was standing over her with an unreadable expression on his face. Then he stretched his hand out and helped Chara to her feet.

"I'm fine, thanks!" Chara gasped. She looked up at Papyrus, trembling. "I think Sans is in trouble!" She winced as she heard something break in the kitchen. "Something's going on in the kitchen now!"

Papyrus nodded slowly. "I hear it. C'mon. Let's help my bro." The two of them rushed over to the kitchen. Chara felt sore from falling downstairs, but she didn't care. She just wanted to help Sans. When she made it to the kitchen she was shocked at what she saw.

Molly, the dog monster from Liz's lab, was fighting Sans.

Sans

Sans sent a wave of bones crashing into Molly. They hit her with ease, causing her to grunt with pain. For someone who broke into his house to fight, she was certainly bad at it.

"You killed Liz!" The dog monster snarled. Chara had told him about her. She had given him the pain serum. "You...killed my friend and mentor!" She howled at him and lunged at him with her teeth bared. "I will kill you!"

Sans dodged aside, trying to talk Molly out of her vicious attacks. "I'm sorry she died!" His eye sockets watered at those words as Molly swiped at his face.

Molly paused at this for a moment and frowned. Then she shook her head. "Apologies won't bring her back." She murmured, her voice cracking.

"Neither will this." Papyrus said from the bottom of the stairs. Sans hadn't seen him arrive with Chara. As he braced himself for another attack he was surprised when Molly dropped to her knees and sobbed.

"You're right!" She cried, her paws pressed to her eyes. "I...I just hate that human!" She glared at Chara.

"Well you can't hurt her." Papyrus said. "I advise you to leave."

Molly gave the skeletons a bitter look. "I guess I won't avenge my mentor. I guess I can't stop you from harbouring a human. But note this: humans are evil. And I suggest you dispose of this one before someone does what Liz failed to do!"
