Chara

Chara perched on Papyrus's shoulders as he took her for a walk through Snowden. She stifled a giggle as he lazily walked through the town streets with her on his shoulders. Sans was out training with Alphys so he had begged his brother to give Chara a piggyback ride so they could both enjoy themselves while he was away. Papyrus reluctantly obliged and now Chara was having quite an amusing time.

Since Chara was no longer a child, it felt funny to be riding on the shoulders of any creature, yet riding on a skeleton was much more bizarre.

Two weeks had passed since Molly had tried to extract her revenge, and things seemed rather quiet in Snowden. Chara felt safe with the two skeletons, especially whenever she was cuddling in the arms of Sans.

"So, kiddo, how do you like being with my brother?" Papyrus asked as he causally walked by two monsters who were staring at him and Chara with bemused expressions.

"He's the best!" Chara blurted, blushing at the mention of the short and energetic skeleton who was her lover. She loved him so much and they bonded more and more with each passing day. She was so grateful that she had fallen into the underground all those years ago.

"I'm glad." Papyrus said. He stopped walking for a moment. "Say...you two haven't done anything together, have you?"

Chara instantly knew what the tall skeleton was getting at and she blushed. "W-what do you mean?" She asked sheepishly.

"Oh...nothing." Papyrus said in a knowing tone before continuing to walk.

Sans

Sans dodged a sparring attack from Alphys, twisting away as she jabbed a spear toward his ribs. He huffed and dodged another attack. Then another. He didn't get tired easily and he was sure he could spar with Alphys all day if she wanted.

But I have to spend time with Chara! He thought as he parried a blow from his sparring friend.

It didn't take long for Sans's thoughts to wander back to his girlfriend...the love of his life. As he dodged attacks all he could think of was how much he loved it when she smiled, the way she sounded when she laughed, and how her eyes lit up whenever he walked into a room where she was in.

SLAM!

Sans was knocked aside by a powerful blow from Alphys when he was distracted by thinking of his lover. He hit a nearby tree with a thud and a loud cracking noise before falling to the ground.

"Ha! Never get distracted during a fight! I thought you mastered that." Alphys said, moving to stand above him. She frowned when he didn't move. "Sans...?"

Fierce pain shot through Sans's ribs and he let out a groan, clutching them with his hands. He huffed and tried to stand, pushing the pain to the side as much as he could. "I'm...I'm okay." He wheezed. "I can train for a bit longer if you want and can make up for...for failing!" But then he collapsed onto Alphys with a pained gasp.

Chara

Chara and Papyrus had stopped at Muffet's to eat some of her delicious burgers. Chara rather liked the place, though she would never dare to tell Sans that! Sans disliked it because he found it too greasy for his liking, but she truly enjoyed eating at the establishment. As she watched Papyrus, she noticed that he got along quite well with the spider who owned the place.

The doors to the building suddenly slammed open, startling literally everyone inside. Chara and Papyrus whipped around to see that Alphys had barged in. Slung over her shoulder was Sans, his legs dangling across Alphys's chest.

"What happened?" Chara cried, jumping off her chair to race over to where Alphys was now standing.

"Knew I'd find you here!" Alphys huffed. Then she quickly went on and told Chara and Papyrus, who had come to join them now, about how she had injured Sans while they were training.

"And now he's letting me carry him...which worries me a lot." Alphys admitted nervously.

"I'm fine." Sans insisted, though he didn't squirm in Alphys's grip. "Stop making a fuss."

"Let's bring him to Undyne." Papyrus suggested. He was surprisingly calm. "She'll patch him up and he'll be as good as new." He patted Chara on the head. "Sans'll be alright. Not the first time he's been injured...probably. I actually don't remember. But probably not."

Alphys nodded. "Of course! Yes! Undyne is the best and will definitely know what to do now. She always knows what to do!" She looked very happy at the suggestion, so they all agreed.

Sans

"Here's some pain medication in case the broken bone bothers you." Undyne said as she handed Sans a bottle of medicine pills.

Sans gratefully took the medication, though he was sure he wouldn't need them to manage a bit of pain. "Thank you!" He said with a smile.

One of his ribs had broke and now there was a bandage wrapped around the one rib bone. It hadn't taken Alphys and the others long to get him to Undyne, who patched him up within a matter of minutes.

"I'm so glad you're alright." Chara said. She and the others had watched as Undyne patched him up, and there was a look of relief and happiness on her face. She looked like she was about to hug him but looked at the bandage on him and stepped back. "From now on I'm coming with you to your training sessions." She said sternly.

"You're going to train with us?" Alphys asked intently.

"Well...sure, I guess. I mostly just want to make sure Sans never gets hurt again." Chara admitted.

"Of course he won't! I make sure I'm careful!" Alphys said, looking a tiny bit offended.

"It was my fault, Chara." Sans told her. "I...I...I...was thinking about you when I was training and I lost focus and I got hurt. It's what I get for allowing myself to be distracted." He felt a stab of guilt, wondering how he could ever have been so ignorant.

"Nonsense." Chara said with a smile, leaning down to kiss him on the cheek. "You're my hero, Sans. Even a hero sometimes gets hurt."
